- B4linBudapest, Hungary3 contributionsKecak dance showI visited Bali for the first time in my life with a larger group back in February. I spent 10 days on this amazing island, among even more amazing people. We were halfway through our stay when we checked out of our accommodation in Ubud and headed to our new lodging in Nusa Dua. We knew we would stop in Ungasan, at Melasti Beach, on the way to see a traditional Balinese dance performance called Kecak. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect, I had no particular idea or expectation, so I eagerly awaited the show. I have to say that I spent the most memorable 10 days of my life in Bali, and the best part was Kecak! This fantastic performance was the most defining experience for me, and it had a huge impact on me! The captivating atmosphere and the enormous energy I received from it caused a cathartic experience, and I was under its spell for days afterward...I will never forget it! I am grateful to the Balinese people and the staff at Melasti Beach, who I am visible with in my profile picture! If you visit Bali, you must come here! Everyone needs to experience this!Visited February 2023Written 29 March 2023
- Ash TAuckland Central, New Zealand13 contributionsOne of the prettiest beaches in BaliV nice beach and water is a magical colour different from other beaches. Itās rocky but no pebbles. The sand is ultra soft. Some good eateries close by. - Shimmy L16 contributionsA day on Melasti BeachTo the south of the island next to a number of beach resorts and high value hotels. Itās a bit more organised (we paid 35k Rpa to get us 3 and taxi through the security gate) than other beaches with limited ability to get away with internet taxi or moped so book return with private taxi before you come or you can get stung by the beach taxis. Long sandy beach with a few small warung bars and cafe. Some decent sun beds and parasols. We paid 150k Rpa for total three beds and parasol all day. Not too crowed although as public holiday on our visit later on the afternoon the locals and Indonesian visitors arrived and added to the numbers but still not crowded. At high tide the waves to the beach were very strong and red flags were out but you could swim if strong swimmer. Further out the big waves were crashing against the reef and o guess the beach waves were getting over the reef. Later on the reef stopped the waves and the beachfront became very flat and easily swimmable. Decent sand as well for first 30m before the rocks of the reef. Would recommend for a day. Not as fun as Padang padang beach or tower surf beaches and food limited unless you hit the beach clubs. But for sunbathing and swimming it is perfect.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 3 August 2023

Thereās honestly not too many places you can go in the water without corals. 5 meters from the sand line is just all corals that just cut up my feet pretty bad. Also snorkeling here was kind of boring even though itās literally all corals. Chill vibes thoughā¦.

The parking ticket lady was so unfriendly. No smile even after taking all of the money that i handed her (not supposed to be that much based on the price stated on the ticket). It wasnāt a big amount of money, but at least if you doesnāt have the change, tell it.. not just pretend like you have the right to take it all š this doesnāt represent Balinese people friendliness

Went for an afternoon, started renting loungers and parasol on the beach and having beers and exploring then wanted lunch and discovered White Rock which was amazing - brand new, great views, lovely layout, pool, tunes, cocktails etc.

The entry was free but everything else was way to expensive.
The beach clubs have taken up most of the good beach area and charge you to get in.
The piece of beach south of the ship wreck is no good for swimming.
We did consider entering one club for a drink even so the drink was 135,000Rup.
This drink around Kuta is 50,000Rup at a bar or 35,000 at a shop.
Then they tell us its 125,000Rup to enter per person.
This may have plus plus tax to.
It is such a shame as the car parking area is so pretty with all the statues.
Don't use the toilets in the carpark they are disgusting.
I think this is so you have to pay a beach club to use theirs,
I'm glad I have been so I don't have to go back.

Arrived at the entrance gates at the top of the hill on my Gojek moto and paid 10k entry fee. I was dropped off at the parking area adjacent to the beach. The beach is clean as is the water. Options for food and drink and sunloungers for rent. Nice environment to spend the day.
Gojek moto are not allowed to pick up from the parking area and I'm too old to walk all the way back up the hill to outside the entry gates. So I was forced to negotiate with the local taxi mafia. I was forced to pay double the cost of a Gojek to get to my next destination. Disgraceful situation to have to deal with. I will never be returning.

Hi!!! Does this beach can be visited while going to Uluwatu temple? Does this place charge for foreigners? We are a group of two families with small kids and will be staying at Kokonut suites, Seminyak. Please suggest some restaurants nearby to have lunch at a reasonable price.
Thanks in advance!!!

There was a very small cafe/restaurant on the beach a bit more expensive than the town areas but you are on the beach. There were also some sellers on the beach with various kinds of hot and cold snacks and drinks.

Can we drive the scooter all the way up to the cliffs, is there any road ?
Chris C

The road was very good and parking was easy but we didn't go up to the cliffs. There are two hotels at a higher level with access to the beach, the Sunday beach club and the Banyan Tree, hope this helps.
