We stumbled upon the concept of a visit to Monkey Hill as a result of TripAdvisor and asked our taxi driver to take us there. It was quiet but if you do decide to walk, it is a very steep climb from Phuket Town.
This was a fun short experience. We had a driver for the day so he took us at the top of the hill where we could see monkeys! We saw dozens and a few came up close. I had never sens monkeys from so close...More
Me and my husband hired a driver to take a few places, monkey hill being one. On the way up the hill you can buy bananas and nuts for the monkeys (cheap). While we where there a couple ladies brought some melons for the monkeys...More
You will definitely get a good sweat on walking up the hill. Still it should be manageable for most people with average fitness. Lots of monkeys up the top and a nice view - we even saw a little snake.
Loved Monkey hill! It's one of those special places you have to experience while in Phuket. After purchasing some monkey food from the local vendors, it's was an unique experience to hand these primates snacks - but don't tease them! I watched as a little...More

Monkey Hill is in Phuket. If you mean how far from Phuket Town, it is less than 10 minutes by car, maybe a couple of kilometers away. I’m not sure of the price as I don’t recall, but I can tell you that the hill closes to vehicles and scooters at 4 pm. So make sure you have your ride come before then, otherwise you’ll have to walk down the hill to the main gate to meet up with your transportation.
Yes, the monkeys are long tailed macaques. So cute! Consider reading my review for some safety tips to ensure you have the best experience possible! Really worth the visit.
My opinion is that between noon and 3 is a good time to go. At dusk and dark the monkeys will put themselves to bed/retreat back into the forest.
Have fun and enjoy!
