We had a car and visited all the beaches from the top of the island to the east coast. Kata is a quiet, family focused area - you'll have to travel to Patong or Karon for partying - with a large, lovely clean beach (as...More

If you enjoy shopping, this is a good place to go. Lots of tourist things to do, and be ready to barter.

We enjoyed ourselves at this western facing beach. The beach was large enough that we did not feel cramped while sharing the shoreline with boats giving parasailing rides.

When visited September 2016, weather was not good, rain and wind. But that made it different, suffers active and the beach not that crowded, as it can be when weather is good. Best times visiting early morning or just before sunset.
