The place is only R40 and they accept visa/credit cards. There are audio speakers along the grounds allowing sight-deficient people to equally make the most of the experience. I find it quite affordable and accessible for anyone wishing to experience and learn about the amazing...More

Everyone that goes to South Africa should visit the historical sites of the country and not forget the sacrifice that was made by Mandela and his family.

Visiting the Mandela House is an absolute must for anyone visiting Johannesburg. Located in the heart of Soweto, the house is now a small museum, with guided tours provided. Full of history and artefacts personally used by Mr Mandela and others involved in Apartheid, the...More

I first visited Mandela House in about 2002 but when I went last week (March 2018) I was so disappointing. Instead of what was once an interesting piece of history where one could almost experience of living in the house, it has now been turned...More

This was a interesting place to add another piece in the life of Mr Mandela and his family. It has been refurbished but still maintains the history and trauma it has experienced.

We toured Soweto and Johannesburg with a private tour guide with Viator. The Nelson Mandela House is a private residence preserved as a museum. The tour guide provided a fairly informative review of Mandela's life and that of his wife and family. It is a...More

This is a great place to visit to see and understand some of Mandella’s history. It has been well preserved to help you appreciate living there. The bullet holes in the front walls are horrific. There are guides who will give you a basic tour...More

While touring Soweto, we visited the house of Nelson Mandela. Frankly, it does not take much time to tour the actual house as it is quite small. You will want to spend time looking at the artifacts and souvenirs from the Mandela estate.

Humbling place to visit, a small house where the great man lived. A few simple displays and a history of the great mans life. Didn’t take long to look round but was great to soak in the atmosphere. The only downside was the pestering by...More

This tiny house encapsulates inequality under apartheid. I am sure there were many smaller and less robust houses in Soweto when it was built, as there are now, but the fact that 6ft 4 Nelson Mandela lived there with his family before, and immediately after,...More
