About
Once a formal garden built for Peter the Great, this popular park still has more than 80 of the original marble statues and sculptures and houses Peter's Summer Palace, a simply designed two-story building that now displays many of the ruler's own artifacts.

Stunning palace
Oct 2020 • Couples
Visited here in October 2018 with cox and kings they now do by hydrofoil as I understand but this was fabulous. The house amazing and the famous Amber room was stunning. The gardens are a delight. Another must do attraction. Remember my trip to Russia fondly.

Can’t miss this place

Excellent place to soak the luxury of Russian czars. Impresses the way it has been built. I think this beats many European gardens that I would have seen. Must visit.

Stunning Place to visit
Sep 2020
What a stunning place to visit. the opulence of the place is amazing, the gold glistens in the sun. the waterfalls and fountains are amazing. the whole experience is just out of this world and such a historical place.

Queues can be massive, up to 4 hours long at times so try get there as early as possible to avoid them if you can. hire a guide too, well worth it.

We did as many of the rooms as was possible in the time we had, but we had an exceptionally good guide who was able to get us around the palace very quickly and without too much queuing

Palace - definitely it’s beautiful. Gardens are also beautiful and wonderful place to walk around during nice weather.

Why I rated 3 stars? 1. There is no service for people in terms of food. So please take food with you. You can’t eat anywhere! It’s huge palace and gardens, you will obviously go for whole day there and there is no food!!! There are only mediocre ice cream counters and very bad quality fast food, no coffee. I wonder why they just can’t make restaurants there when so many tourists? 2. They charge you money everywhere. I would suggest take one fee at the entrance that includes everything but in Peterhof they divided every single step so u spend time in queues and everything becomes quite pricey. Also in palace you can’t move by yourself, only with a group of Russian tourists who doesn’t listen and misbehave. In general Peterhof is nice area for gardens and parks but carry ur food along and keep in mind there are many similar gardens in Petersburg as well. Would suggest to go by taxi from Petersburg.

TIPS for visit - tickets, how to reach, what to combine with
Apr 2021
I wont describe in detail Peter the Great summer palace, as many did that before and I agree with them it's marvelous. Just to explain - my 4 stars are because there's no English on the paid tour.
TICKETS - due to Covid the number of visitors is limited. BUY your tickets ONLINE beforehand. I am not sure if they sell tickets at the counter at all, so do not take the risk coming here without them. Tickets are on a time slot basis with 15 min tolerance. As I said there's no option for an English tour, only Russian, which is unbelievable.
REACHING - most interesting is by the speed boat from St. Pet center, BUT this is operating ONLY May-Oct.
By public transport take the metro to Avtovo station (St. Pet most beautiful one) and from there buses 200 or 210 or private mini bus K-224, K-300 or K-424 (count on around 75-90 min one way).
Most convenient is by taxi (make sure you have the Yandex app installed) - around 45 min one way, cost around 15$.
COMBINE your Peterhof visit with the outstanding Naval Cathedral (read that review) in Kronstadt (island in the Finnish bay). Both are in the same direction, and best option is to make a loop which will require all together at least half a day.

Beautiful palace and parc
May 2021 • Friends
We took the boat from the center of St Petersburg, which is an experience by itself, very fast and nice trip.

You arrive directly at the parc which is so beautiful ! Fountains were already open, the parc is huge and clean. We loved everything about it.

Little advice : bring some nuts, there are tons of squirrels and they love eating from one’s hand

The (former) summer residence of the Russian Tsars. One of the most spectacular palaces in the world. NOT 2 B MISSED.
Oct 2019
It is recommended to arrive as soon as possible in the morning as there are long queues of tourists.
Another recommendation is to book tickets in advance or take an attached guide or join a group.
We (2 couples) were on a private trip with a (wonderful) guide, so we did not waste unnecessary time on the queues. We arrived and immediately entered the palace.
The palace contains many dozens of rooms and halls and ballroom, bedrooms, guest rooms, guest room for dining, small rooms with exhibits of various arts from around the world: Japan, Islam Central Asia, private room of Peter the Great and his personal collections, collections of pictures, sculptures, amazing furniture, watches and many wonderful accessories. Murals and frescoes everywhere including on the ceilings. “Really amazing”.
After finishing the “Palace Tour” we continued towers the “Gardens Tour” with the pools and waterfalls which are studded with an amazing abundance of “GOLD” Sculptures, spectacular fountains and a “HUGE” variety of flower gardens, groves, and forests.
A stunning place “NOT 2 B MISSED”, Especially if you are traveling with children.

The most beautiful gardens!
Aug 2019 • Family
The palace gardens were absolutely stunning! The care taken with every inch was just incredible (and actually really sad, considering the situation of the people at the time they were created). But for now, as a tourist destination, they really are the most lush, well-kept and creative gardens I've ever seen. The Palace too is beautiful, and sits grandly atop the hill overlooking the waterfalls. Tourists are able to walk through all the gardens, and all around the Palace courtyards. It was really nice to get so close up. It was a really beautiful tour and a lovely way to spend a sunny morning strolling through beauty.
