If strolling in the fascinating gardens is your thing, then The Park And Gardens of Peterhof is the best place to go! Incredible landscape and fabulous buildings all over the park can blow your mind with their magnificence and elegance. And if you ask me, fountains were one of the highlights of this exciting visit. I can't recommend it enough!

The garden of the Peterhof is really beautiful, you can make long walks and in summer have a picnic and enjoy the quiet location. It is easily accessible via speed boat fro St. Petersburg. Highly recommended to visit together with the palace.

While lavish palaces like Peterhof you can see in many places worldwide and they look pretty much the same, gardens of this complex put Peterhof above others.
The area of Peterhof parks and gardens is huge. It stretches all the way to Finnish bay - the Lower gardens, and behind the Palace towards the road - the Upper gardens.
More interesting and nicer are the lower gardens with its prime attraction - the Cascade fountains. Beside that, there're several more smaller fountains spread around.
The gardens are landscaped after Versailles', which Peter the Great frequented and wanted the same at his place.

Beautiful garden and fountains.
Too bad the palace and some fountains were closed. Best to access by hydrofoils departing near the Hermitage.

Grand Cascade fountains are a must see if you are in St Petersburg. Peter the
Great was heavily influenced by French style and a trip to Versailles from which he clearly drew inspiration. There are some similarities with Villa D'Este (Rome) too.
A massive reconstruction took place after demolition during WW2 and the fountains are amazing. I am glad I went.
There are some lovely fountains and views to be seen through the Park but not an awful lot in the way of flowers.

There are very extensive gardens at Peterhof that are usually not included in guided tours because of time restrictions. Since we were on a private tour with plenty of time, we had an extended walk around the gardens after visiting the palace (reviewed separately) but I must say that apart from the main fountains and the gardens immediately adjacent to these, the remainder were fairly average. Some small fountains, classic statuary, topiary hedges, etc but nothing that you wouldn't see at dozens of other classical gardens.
So definitely see the fountains but don't worry if you don't see the rest of the gardens (only 2.5 stars without the fountains).

If I enter from the Upper Gardens, how much do I have to walk to get to the Lower Gardens and then to the Hydrofoil? I will have 2 kids with me, and hence the question
MickyC-AUS

Upper gardens to lower gardens to hydrofoil will take a leisurely 10 to 15 minutes without any deviations. However since the gardens are expansive and have many areas of interest you could make your way slowly to the hydrofoil making many stops along the way to explore areas as part of an adventure. There are many places to stop, sit and admire this beautiful place. Enjoy!

Please, can someone tell me, how much costs bus ticket in one way from Peterburg to Peterhof? Also, I would like to know if I can buy a ticket for Peterhof in reception, or I have to buy it earlier? How long does it take to come there?
thank you folks! 😊

Sorry I have to answer your question in English because I do not speak Russian (I translated your question into English!).
Well, it depends. If you go to this place during summer, when there's a lot of tourists around, you may have to stand in the queue for a long time to get in and for this reason, it is best to get there around the opening time to have enough time to visit the place after you get in.
Of course, if you go there in an organized tour, you won't have to wait in the queue to buy tickets at all because they usually buy the tickets in advance.
Also, if you go there out of the peak time, when there's fewer tourists around, you probably won't have to wait in the queue at all, but the weather may be a little colder.
However, whatever you do, try to get there before noon and specially on a sunny day because you will enjoy it a lot more in that case and you will have enough time to visit the gardens and the palace without having to worry about reaching the closing time of the place. Have a good time!
