We visited as a convenient place to park to visit the main Baroque town. I was very glad we visited- it's small but well preserved, and quite cheap to enter (€3 each I think). Great views across to town and the surrounding countryside. No interpretation...More

Scenic secondary roads can make this part of a day trip from Syracuse. The site is small, but it has some interesting features: the theater was being set up for events when we were there; its seating is is fairly good condition. Small, intricate necropolises...More

This is not one of the better known sites on Sicily, but has some features of interest nonetheless. The remains of the bouleterion are probably the smallest I've seen, and the theatre is not in great shape. It is used for concerts in the summer...More

An amazing place, full of history, miths, memories. Visiting it is a life experience that remains indelible. It is possible to see or feel in the air, the voice of the great playwrights and Latino actors ... the flavor of a distant time.

Keep heading upwards and you will end up at the Greek Theatre and other ruins. Go through the gates and park by the entrance shed. Pay 2 Euros and collect your crumpled information sheet (which is quite hard to understand). Take the top path and...More

There are two separate areas of Akrai: the archeological park and the area of i Santoni statues. We came specifically to see i Santoni....not an easy do. It required quite a few calls by a few people before we could find out how we could...More

The area, which could be wonderful is totally left abandoned, except the presence of a lady at the ticket office. The visit path has disappeared, the wooden fences in a very bad shape. The grottoes cannot be seen. A notice in German language (English was...More
