This is a lake that no one should miss
Sep 2020
Although the place was somehow crowded we had no problem in finding a parking spot. The path goes all around the lake is practicable for most people except handicapped. View is great wherever you are around the lake. Boats are available for rent. One aspect that we did not like at all: this was mid-September. The Covid was active everywhere. Masks were not mandatory outside. On one side of the lake the path is wide enough to maintain some distance with other hikers. However, most of the other half of the path is made of very narrow paths and/or stairs going up and down. Distanciation was impossible and many people did not wear a mask. Many times we had to stop and let people go. Some of them were very uneducated and running through like crazy. We plan to complain with local authorities and suggest a one-way tour.

A really beautiful place
Sep 2020 • Couples
A really beautiful place. The lake is beautiful but too overhyped and overflowing. Only 4 Stars because here the commerce is in the foreground meanwhile. A pity...

Go early!
Sep 2020 • Couples
Went for a visit to the lake.
Luckily we went very early and parked a bit away from the lake.

Parking costs 6 euro for the whole day.
The closer you get it is 6 euro and a additional fee per half an hour.

You can walk around the lake and make some beautifull photo's.

When we where almost finished it was getting crowded.

From the lake there are also walking paths what are not crowded.

Paradise
Sep 2020 • Couples
First the difficult bit, parking. We arrived at 10.15, there are 3 car parks, all were full. So we turned around and drove to Ferrara, parked for free. Found a bus stop near the church with a sign that you can only book tickets online for the bus. Did this online and paid by PayPal. Bus turned up 2 minutes later, showed my email receipt, we were allowed on. Can’t stress enough, no cash payments. The lake is beautiful, you can walk around, you will climb 32 stairs. Do rent a boat, 19 euros for half an hour or 29 for an hour, do 1 hour. Toilets on the right side of the lake, 1 euro. Cafeteria gets busy. And for the lake, see the pictures

Terrible experience
Sep 2020 • Family
After have driven for two hours and a half from Belluno and when there were only 7 km to reach the lake a guy without any distinctive was blocking the route and avoiding us (and all the other cars) to continue. We went back and stop in the hotel Edelweise where "by chance" they proposed us to park there for €15 and take the van for other €5 per person (other 15 in our case × 2 to come back to the car). So magically I had to pay €45.
This made up business of which I became an unexpected (unexpected by me) client put me of a very bad mood to enjoy anything.

Reaching Lago di Braies through the hiking trail from Braies di Dentro
Aug 2020
Gem in the heart of the Dolomites: this Alpine lake is very famous for its clear water and its reflections from the surrounding forests and mountains.
It is recommended to hike along the trail around the lake and get all the different perspectives.
It is difficult to get there in high season, as parking places are limited. Furthermore, this summer due to the Covid-19 countermeasures, you need to book in advance your parking or your access by bus.
We decided to reach it by walk on the nice hiking trail no.1 from Braies di Dentro.

Go after 3pm
Aug 2020 • Couples
During August everyone follows the advice in every possible blog - go as early as possible. That makes the mornings a nightmare! The road after the roundabout in the near village is closed between 10am and 3pm. Unless you are absolutely sure you can make it like at 8am, be there right around 3pm. We entered the parking after a bit of traffic and enjoyed the lake without a problem. There was a post saying that the colours are best in the afternoon, which is another great reason to skip the crowds in the morning. Around 5pm it seemed another serious wave of tourists came

Fantastic place!!
Aug 2020
Very beautiful place! A must see while in Dolomites. The water's color is incredible. Seems as if you are in Sardegna and not in the mountains. Could get quite crowded, so i would recommend to visit it early in the morning.

Must see location!
Jun 2020 • Couples
This lake is a must see when visiting the dolomites. The water is very peacefull, while renting a boat is expensive, it's worth the money. I think we were lucky we arrived right after corona lockdown so there were not many tourists.

unbelievably beautiful!
Jul 2020
We visited the lake on a weekday. We were there very early in the morning and had no problem in finding a parking spot. Walking along the lake is best with few people, especially because on one side of the lake the trail is quite narrow. It can get very crowded very quickly. I read reviews mentioning dirty toilets. I didn't find them dirty (I was there twice, early in the morning and at lunch time. both times they were very clean. It is true you need to pay 1 euro, but kids are free). If you plan your visit carefully, you can enjoy the perfect beauty of the scenery.
