We walked around about three hours and marveled at the tree-lined avenues, the huge fig tree with roots radiating out in all directions, Lord Mountbatten's WWII HQ, the orchid house, the landscaping, the avenue of palm trees, and the Laksala gift shop of course at...More

A must go in Kandy. It's a beautiful huge park with a broad variety of trees, plants, grass, bamboo, etc. We walked around for about 2h and made 50% of the park. One can easily spent half a day here. Entrance fee as always in...More

Now I get bored easily - but even I managed 3 hours here. It's exceptional. Even beats Singapore's garden. Upon entering park, head right towards Orchid House. Watch the birds on the small pond diving for flies opposite the Orchids. Next turn right and find...More

You need at least half a day to go round the gardens. We only had just over an hour here so it wasn't long enough. It was great to see the wildlife and all the different trees from different parts of the world. There are...More

Beautiful botanical gardens, wonderfully manicured lawns, amazing palm trees and huge bamboo. Watch out for the trees whose roots are above the grounds and it's something like out of a film set. Lovely orchid house with over two hundred varieties. Watch out for the amazing...More

These three are plentiful here. This park is a great place for a stroll. A change from the bustle of Kandy streets. There is a circuit walk around the periphery. Worth doing.

Two hours wasn't long enough for this attraction but we saw a lot in that time. Like many worldwide the gardens have been attractively landscaped and show a wonderful diversity of exotic plants and especially trees where we walked, many of which were just coming...More

You could spend a day here if you like plants and flowers. Otherwise a half day is nice to get a good look around. The Golf cart is good to hire for an hour as you get to see the whole area.

Hi Everyone, is there extra cost for the buggies or carts that ply inside? How many people can they sit at a time? Do they have any fixed timing or available all the time?

Yes. There is a charge and for us the time limit was one hour. We had the large cart...I think 7-8 people could fit in nicely. Heard there are smaller carts too.

Hi there, we are going to be in Sri Lanka in December this year and plan to visit the Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya. If we're planning on spending some time there, do we need a packed lunch - or is there a restaurant? We'll be with small children, so I want to check that there are toilets too please. Thanks, Claire
