This is another place where Sri Lankans pay next to nothing to get in and tourists pay an arm and a leg. If that bothers you, don't go, because you'll just end up feeling sour about it. The area really is beautiful and there are loads of different plants and flowers there to see to keep you interested. If you're... More

The park is an oversight for most people as it's not really advertised in Kandy. There are various trees from different parts of the world that have been united in the park and very well maintained. The park is easily accessible by car but you have to park outside and either rent a small golf cart or walk around. The... More

The Botanical Garden is located in Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, close proximity from Kandy. The botanical garden is 5 hours car ride from the city of Colombo. Taxi ride cost almost the same as a rental van with a driver. We paid LKR 8400 (US$ $60.00 for round trip) . You can add Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage or the Kandy temple to... More

This is a must see garden with a rich history. You can enjoy the garden by walking which will require a few hours or taking a one hour golf cart. Be sure to pick up a booklet from the ticket vendor and read as you visit the different locations in the garden.

So beautiful and so many bats i am in love with them when they flew around lovley, lovley, lovley. Many beautiful trees and flowers. Our driver asked us if 2 or 2.5 hours wold be enough and we said 2 would be more than enough as we are all not too interested in flowers but we ended up texting our... More

Be prepared to spend there 2-3 hours as the garden is really very vast. It's nice place for a walk and it was worth to see it. Entrance fee is quite high for foreigners (1500 rupees, it's about 10 Eur), but foreigners get separate washrooms for this price. It was explained to me that the washrooms for the locals are... We are travelling through Sri Lanka with 3 teenagers. Garden centres etc are my idea of hell, my wife is the gardener. However I did actually enjoy the walk as you appreciate that everything you see here can mostly only be grown at home in glass houses. It is a local tourist attraction so not that expensive to get in... More

To do the gardens justice you need at least half a day, we only had a couple of hours & couldn't really do it justice as there is so much to see, ok if your not into plants a couple of hours is fine for a walk but there are so many plants & trees to see and the highlight... More

Entrance is 1.5k rupees for foreigners and 60 rupees for locals! Lost a notch straight away due to the blatant discrimination! Takes about an hr to stroll around. Loads of old trees in the park. Some as old as 150 years. You will definitely feel a distinct sense of European influence in some of the tree sculptures. Reminds me of... More
