A local museum designed in an old storage building of 19th century next to an old clocktower and church. The museum is named after a character "An old soldier" who is a figure in Finnish national poet´s, J.L.Runeberg´s long poem in a poem antology called "Vänrikki Stoolin tarinat" (Stories of lieutenant Stål), part I published 1848 by J.L.Runeberg and part II 1860. In the poem the retired soldier is remembering events of August 1808 in Alavus.The clocktower from year 1845 and the church next to the museum are also worth of visit and why not to walk 300m east, down to the riverfront and along a path to the chapel area related to 1808 events.…
