This year has been a very hot year for Greece and due to this the salt pans are not holding the birds expected. Still keep looking you don't know what might turn up!

This is a large salt flat, but there is no reason to stop unless you really love salt flats. Take a look at the salt and the birds as you are driving by and keep going.

We drove around to see what is happing there but were not very impressed by the result. There is no information whatsoever, although this would be nice to find out how they get the salt from the water.

Spent two weeks in Skala Kalloni and visited the saltpans birdwatching very often during our two week trip. Great place to look around lots of different birds to see.

Where in the world can you see flamingoes feeding in the foreground and sheep grazing in the background? Nowhere that I know except at the Kalloni Salt Pans! Not to be missed!

This was simply incredible. For the most part, other birders were hugely helpful to one another in sharing information and offering views through scopes.

If you are a birder, you will know about this place. If you are not, the sight of the Flamingos is a sight that should not be missed.
