We took a tour here in March 2017 with La Fortuna Tours. We travelled from La Fortuna, which made for a long bus ride, but the boat tour itself was great. I captured some amazing photographs of the wildlife. Our 8 and 13 year old were quite excited by all the monkeys. When we first arrived, we were treated to... More

My family and I took this tour which started with a long drive from our hotel in Fortuna. Our guide, Rebecca, talked the whole time about life in Costa Rica. It was very interesting. We arrived at the dock for pancakes and drinks. Then came the boat tour. It is definitely geared for an older crowd. We saw quite a... More

I booked this tour from the UK with Desafio company who were the cheapest. We were collected from our hotel as per the ticket in a minibus. because there was only about 15 of us it meant we would have the whole boat on arrival to ourselves. Our journey had us stop to use the facilities at a restaurant where... More

Lots of birds, caimans, calm water on the river. A photo opportunity along a river which is low at this time of the Year.

As we cruised down the river, accompanied by a local dog in the water, we saw quite a few animals. More than in the cloud forests. Our Caravan Tour guide, Eduardo, was amazing, as he helped locate birds and monkeys.

Brilliant trip down the river. Saw lots of birds (including Ospreys), 3 types of Monkeys (Howler, Spider and white faced), plus lots of other things. The guide was wonderful. Definitely do this trip if you get the chance.

Cano Negro is probably the closest place from La Fortuna if you wanna to see a lot of animals in their natural habitate. We consulted a few travel agencies where to see Costa Rican animals before going on the tour with Arenal Adventures. Our guide Billy was good at pointing out all sorts of animals and plants. Beverage and snacks... More

We travelled from our hotel in Fortuna and it did seem a long way, but well worth the effort. We were lucky in that our trip only had about 15 people in the boat so we had loads of room to move about. Our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The boat driver did his best to get us in a...
