Hydra is a picturesque island with no cars or motor bikes; travel is generally by donkey. While there isn't much to do when on a 3 island tour as I was, there was a walking tour which included the Komiseos Theotokou Monastery, worth visiting.

We were visiting Hydra as part of a three island day tour. We didn't have much time so we signed up for a walking tour of Hydra Town. One of the stops was this church. We were enthralled with all the artifacts in the little...More

No climbing necessary to see this gem (also called the cathedral of Hydra and Church of the Dormition) -- it's right off the main street in the harbor. When my wife and I visited at 6 pm, a Greek Orthodox priest and a lay person...More

This tiny church is so close to the harbour. It looks very nice and you can ecen pop in. Hydra is so nice and this small church really fascinating.

This is a beautiful 'working' church and monastery. Just back from the bustling harbour but has a real feeling of tranquility. It doesn't take long to look around but it's well worth seeing (and free!) : ))

The monastery is small but exquisite, highly recommended as an attraction if you want to spend an hour or so soaking up a bit of the community culture and beliefs. Stunning decoration and unusual architecture. And best of all it's a fully functioning active part...More

Visit around 11ish in the morning so you can enter the actual church (not in beach wear though) because this is a real treat. The cloisters square off on two tiers protecting the monastery in the centre. You'll see monuments to the navel heroes and...More
