Experience the history of the Lofoten Fishery at one of the best preserved squires in Lofoten. On the site of the medieval town of Vågar (now called Storvågan / SKREI Experience Center) you'll find the stately 1815 main building, authentic fishermen's cabins, and boathouses featuring Nordland boats. The museum also offers picture-games and exhibitions on the Lofoten fisheries, ports and coastal lighthouses, traditional crafts and a beautiful garden with historic perennials.

Very well mantained museum. Lovely bay. The main building in particular gives evidence of the kind of sober bourgeoisie living at this latitude, compared with average middle class in cities of Europe. The genuine supply store furniture requires more ancient style souvenirs

The Lofoten Museum is a part of the larger Skrei Experience which includes the museum, an aquarium, and an art museum featuring a famous Lofoten artist. I highly recommend getting the ticket that includes all three venues. It's super worth it. Ere are a lot of complaints here about the lack of English signage, and I think they are trying... More

. . . and the dreadful toll it took. See how the fishery owner lived on the labor of the indentured fishermen.

We only visited the museum that once was a Manor House and then was converted into a Senior Housing Center. It now displays information about the people of the Lofoton Islands. Of particular interest was the film about life on the lighthouses with actual testimonies from past residents. Incredible stories include how families lived on these small patches of land... More

A must do if you want to know more about history and life on the Lofoten isles. There is a lot to see like old fishing huts, boats and pictures of the fishing tradition. There are major translations in German or English, but a lot of the information are only in the norwegian language.

This little museum is a real piece of history of the area and of Lofoten. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed walking around buildings and looking at the exhibits. We allocated only an hour, but could have spent more time here. Did not visit the aquarium, which is walking distance away.

Less touristic than Å, but also less complete... If you haven´t seen others, you could visit this one, and not feel disappointed! The good thing is that you may be one of the few visitors, which allows you to freely enjoy the houses! The place is quite nice for some pictures ;)

As with other museums we visited in Lofoten, we were really disappointed by the lack of explanations/information. A number of interesting exhibits, but we would like to have learned more about their purpose and their history. We also expected to find info on the history/geology of the Lofoten, but... nothing! As for the audiovisual show, it was simply a diaporama... More

A museum about the fishing lifestyle and changes in the culture of the area. A total of 5 buildings, showing a collection of old fishing boats from different ages, old accommodations for fishermen, tools, engines and pictures of the olden days. In august 2014 also a video about life on lighthouses. Not as much to see or experience, but a... More

Well, if you haven't been to any other museum in lofoten or northern norway, then you really might enjoy this one. But I found it a bit to stereotype and like all the others. They have a furnished, old house, a fisher house, some fisher boats and what I really liked, they a collection of a photographer who lived there... More
