Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unfortunately the night market didn't live up to expectations. There weren't any stalls that were unique to that particular market, maybe 12 in total selling brackets, clothes and knock off sunglass etc. There were lots of food and drink stalls with areas to sit and also a stage for a band. I imagine if you didn't have children, you could sit and drink for hours quite happily. But for us, there wasn't enough to keep the children occupied. We travelled from the other side of the island to visit this market and unfortunately it wasn't worth it.

It’s a 10 minute walk from the central area and we shouldn’t have bothered. I became disenchanted with Thai markets quite a while ago. This one is pretty much the same as others I’ve seen in recent years. The usual tat in the stalls, similar menus as Thai restaurants but also a surprising amount of international food as well. Shooting range - check, cocktail van - check, live band who make an appearance long after you’ve got fed up and moved on - check. The prices on the food stalls looked very similar to restaurant prices, which is a bit disturbing.

I was riding my motorbike near the area when it started to pour. It was rainy season and I pulled over by the road just in time to grab some dinner. Unlike the restaurants, you can eat the same kind of meal for nearly half of what you pay at touristy places. A popular venue among tourists and locals alike.
Some of these stalls are unhygienic with flies on their food and are probably better to avoid.

This night market is amazing. We found so many unique things and such well priced clothes we had to buy a whole other suitcase just to pack stuff into. Tons of food booths and great vibe all around!

This is people watching, food booths galore and some entertainment throughout the market. We wandered, ate at a few booths, purchased some souveniers and some snacks for the beach and the pool. This was a nice night to stroll and observe the local scene.

With loads of food and drink and Nik nak stands. Along with varying live entertainment as time goes by. We enjoyed the relaxed atmophere and variety, and would happily go back every Sunday

The most joyful and colourful event in Lamai is at the Sunday night market. Everything from cheap magnets, fake silk, woodcraft, jewellery, to more nuanced things that travellers might buy. The most interesting part is surely the food stalls, where most tastes and palates will find their joy. Highlight, of course, is crocodile meat, silk worms, grasshoppers and crickets.

With all night markets you can get stalls that are hit and miss, but we really enjoyed this little night market in Lamai. The food stalls were cheap and good quality and tge souvenir and clothes stalk hd good quality and plenty of room for Barterring. There was also plenty on offer.

Lanai Night Market doesn't seem to exist any longer.
After Covid closures the section of street leading to the beach is not packed with lively stalls. (Change of use by the landowner?)
However there's a smaller version/food stalls etc about 200metres further on.

Nice, but very small market. There are all sorts of things to buy, from waving cats to mini fans, fake branded clothing and incense sticks to bags and backpacks. There are also a few food stalls as well as cocktails and a music stage. A welcome change

Are the markets covered? It's pouring rain. wondering how wet we are going to get?
Written 21 January 2018
Most of the stalls have gazebos so are covered, but they are set up on the streets with no cover. There will no doubt be plenty of umbrellas and raincoats/rain ponchos for sale.

Written 30 December 2017
We agree with Grant. I’m sure that the markets would be held as it is so popular with tourists. Enjoy the food!

Hello guys, on which street exactly is Sunday market located?
Written 10 September 2017
do the lamai sunday night market only open in Sunday only?
how about other days?
Written 8 September 2017
The Sunday Market is only n Sunday's.
However there is also a Lamai Night Plaza that starts at I believe 5 -6:00 pm for 3 hours or so. It has most of the same vendors. Check my posting of the Lamai Market on TA.

What are best times to go, best place to park a car?
Written 11 February 2017
We parked in the Tesco on the main road. Huge car park and only a 10 minute walk to the start of the food markets. All the side streets were parked up, there was nowhere else to leave the car but Tesco worked fine.

Where to park and be close walking distance fro m the night market and best time to go
Written 11 February 2017
You can easily park your car somewhere close to the main road "4169" and walk. If I remember correctly we were there around 4-5 p.m. and most of the food stalls were already open. Enjoy!
