nice walk with children
Oct 2019
This is a really easy walk, 15+15 minutes. Easy for children and elder people. Nice in summer as it is very fresh. After the walk, you can choose to eat at Lake Emerald (Lago Smeraldo) or have a small sightseeing through the village (Fondo) or proceeding towards Tret (1 hour 30 minutes by foot) through the woods

A hidden gem -- literally
Sep 2017 • Family
The regional government began the first of 2 stages of construction in 2003 to make this gorge accessible to visitors. The second stage was completed in 2010. Now the entire narrow gorge can be traversed on steel catwalks, with an open picnic area in the middle. The guided tour of the gorge is very informative and well worth the modest fee charged by the city, which is responsible for its operation and maintenance. The gorge is at places so narrow that one has to walk sideways to get through. The rushing water below is at times so far down in the dark gorge that it is hard to see. A most varied and rewarding experience.

Narrow gorge underneath the town - interesting but not spectacular
Jun 2017 • Friends
Canyon Rio Sasso is essentially a narrow winding gorge that runs right through the middle of the town, but due to its depth, and the fact that it has been roofed over in parts, means that this feels more like an underground tour.

Everyone meets up in the centre of town and is kitted out with waterproof jackets, which I would think would only be needed if it were raining, and a helmet (torches are not necessary). You then walk down to the gorge with the guide, who introduces and describes everything in Italian. I would say that 90% of those in the tour were Italian speakers.

The gorge is fairly impressive, more so because if its location under the town. You basically wind your way through (it's quite a distance) on a metal walkway, then return the way you came. During the walk, and like just about every cave visit I've ever been on, the guide routinely points out rock formations which look like birds, animals or faces - take your pick, though a good dose of psychoactive meds may be required to aid identification!

Why not more stars. Basically, you are under the town, so though worth a visit, it's not really that enchanting, especially with all the drain pipes hanging down. It's also quite a long way, so it becomes somewhat monotonous.

Not easy to get it
Jun 2017 • Family
It took us more than a hour to find it, no proper directions. Apparently we found it but they required to pay for a guide, needs to wait him and no available places on that day. So stupid not to allow people just visit it as in every normal place.

Always picture perfect
Mar 2017 • Couples
Last time we walked through the canyon in February 13 there had been heavy snowfall and it was the most beautiful scene I had ever witnessed, so we were a little cautious this time as only a little had fallen.
Fear not though as the minute we stepped foot on the trail we were as mesmerised as we had been previously by the beauty of this walk.
The high rock faces form a guard of honour to the fast flowing steam and you could be miles from civilisation although you are in the centre of the town.
The walk is a smooth one, taking about 30 minutes with a few small inclines so most people could do it without too much trouble. There are quite a few step at the end but there is a rail to hold if you find hard.
There are so many photograph opportunities along the way so you could be a very long time ( just like us ). So take your time and try to soak in this wonderful walk.

this is a "must be seen" walkway in a dearing looking, but otherwise very safe ambiance in the very narrow valley and above wild waters

The Bells! The Bells!
Dec 2016 • Solo
This is a very charming walk and not too demanding though be aware there is a long flight of metal stairs at the top of the gorge.
Try to time your walk to the ringing of the Mass bells from St Martin's. It is quite awesome how they echo round the canyon
