Very surprising tour. Totally unexpected ancient murals, excellent guide in English and a rather unique place. Fascinating history regarding a Knight of King Arthur.
Beautiful position on top of a rocky hilltop with sheer drops on three sides.

Rodengo Castle

We visited the Castle in late afternoon with a party of about 30 people. The tour lasted for about 75 minutes and was excellent value for the 6 Euro charge. The young lady who guided us round really knew the Castle's history which helps to add to the understanding of the place. Personally, the highlight was the medieval wall paintings showing the story of the knight y'gwain (Sir Gawain of Arthurian legend). Definitely worth a visit.

Great example of medieval living

Fantastic family owned castle - worth the very small entry charge to keep a place like this in good order. Very interesting, worth a visit and take the guided tour - very informative and an enlightening insight to medieval living

Private tour

Beautiful castle in good shape and many medieval features still visible, also called Burg/Schloss Rodenegg. Luckily we got a (private!) tour, because the castle was officially not (or limited) open due to the low season (May). Super nice staff!

Castle wasn't officially open but the caretaker agreed to give us the opportunity to visit. Lovely castle full of history.

Sadly it was the first thing I saw when we arrived at the hotel, now being a History buff the following day I set off to explore the church and Castle. Castle Rodeneg has a checkered history which I will not fill a page with just stroll down and have a look around, you will find much of the story on various boards. The 1000 foot drop into the valley is spectacular and when at the church you will find a projection over the gorge which will give a splendid view of the castle.
Even closed it is worth an hour or so of your time.
