Eddie was a fantastic host. The cottage was fully equipped, with every convenience possible, including an already-laid peat fire to light. Eddie was a font of information.

Your guest cottage has been the most comfortable, immaculate, well-furnished stay we’ve had in our three weeks in Ireland so far. The thoughtful touches like the groceries you had waiting for us and your very informative notebook made settling in a breeze. They were much appreciated.
The best thing about our visit was the time you both spent with us. Your stories will live in our memories when we return home. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to meet you and stay in your lovely cottage.

My husband, our 13 year-old son, and I stayed with Eddie and Ann at the farm stay for 2 nights in August. We fell in love with the place, and with Eddie! The cottage is gorgeous and comfortable and the bucolic setting is peaceful and lovely. In terms of the formal activities, we chose the blacksmith and the musicians, in addition to the trip to the peat bog. All 3 of these experiences were beyond our expectations, and that is due to the people. Eddie welcomed us with open arms and allowed our son to join in on some of the chores he was doing around the farm. It was a rich, lovely, heartwarming, fascinating time which allowed us some glimpses into Irish daily life. We highly recommend it!

We absolutely loved staying here. The cottage is charming and comfortable. It was also well stocked with everything we needed, including food (snacks, wine, breakfast). The bog experience was educational and enjoyable. Be prepared to walk! They do provide footwear. The owners are lovely.

My son asked me if there was anything special I wanted to do on this trip to Ireland. I said I wanted to do something a little less "touristy". So glad he found out about Ireland West Farmstays. It turned out to be the unexpected highlight of our Ireland trip. Eddie Dooney was the perfect host and guide for our day-long adventure that combined history, genealogy, folklore and a taste of working farm life. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a change of pace and a chance (if just for a day or two) to experience life in rural Ireland.

What a lovely place! Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed getting to spend time in the countryside of Ireland! The beautiful cottage we stayed in was cozy, comfortable, and absolutely perfect! Eddie Joe welcomed us all with a warm smile and gave us a fun tour of the farm and bog. It was very interesting! We had a lot of fun cutting the turf (even if we weren’t the best at it). Our family highly recommends staying here and meeting Eddie Joe. We all learned a lot about Irish culture and heritage and definitely left the farm feeling refreshed!

After traveling and seeing the Southwest of Ireland and all of the spectacular sights and natural wonders, the farm was a nice relaxing spot. The cottage is cosy but modern with all the comforts of a special guest house. Perfect for travel with my wife and 2 adult children with 3 bedrooms. Even had a laundry which my daughter took advantage of as she was heading off to the rest of Europe after our stay here. The hospitality was warm and genuine. I especially enjoyed the optional music night sitting around the peet fire and even taking a turn on the dance floor. Judy even convinced my son to get up and dance and he proved a natural. I would highly recommend this stay as it is nice to slow down and get a taste of Ireland today.
Thanks Eddy and Anne

We have stayed at Ireland West Farm Stay two different times on our vacations to Ireland. We have loved each time. The cottage is beautiful and was comfortable to stay in. Having a kitchen and being able to eat meals in the cottage is a great change from always eating out while on vacation. You also have access to do laundry, which is a great feature. Eddie Joe and family are the perfect hosts and enjoyed being able to get to know them. Take advantage of the local activities and do a music session at the cottage, take a farm/bog tour with Eddie Joe, do a hands on blacksmith demonstration or visit some of the local sites. You will not regret staying here, we look forward to coming back again sometime!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the beautiful cottage on the farm. Eddie Joe was a gracious and perfect host , making sure we were comfortable, lit the fireplace and sat with us for awhile telling us the history of the cottage, farm and land. We loved waking up to see the donkeys and ponies across the road waiting for us to come out to pet them. Eddie took us on a walking tour of his farm sharing more about the history and culture. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Ireland!
