My son asked me if there was anything special I wanted to do on this trip to Ireland. I said I wanted to do something a little less "touristy". So glad he found out about Ireland West Farmstays. It turned out to be the unexpected highlight of our Ireland trip. Eddie Dooney was the perfect host and guide for our day-long adventure that combined history, genealogy, folklore and a taste of working farm life. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a change of pace and a chance (if just for a day or two) to experience life in rural Ireland.

My husband, our 13 year-old son, and I stayed with Eddie and Ann at the farm stay for 2 nights in August. We fell in love with the place, and with Eddie! The cottage is gorgeous and comfortable and the bucolic setting is peaceful and lovely. In terms of the formal activities, we chose the blacksmith and the musicians, in addition to the trip to the peat bog. All 3 of these experiences were beyond our expectations, and that is due to the people. Eddie welcomed us with open arms and allowed our son to join in on some of the chores he was doing around the farm. It was a rich, lovely, heartwarming, fascinating time which allowed us some glimpses into Irish daily life. We highly recommend it!

No words can describe how charming, fun and informative our time was at Ireland West Farmstay. We stayed two nights to soak up the country life. Eddie was a wealth of knowledge and so funny, while Ann was always pleasant and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We did the interactive bog tour and learned about a fascinating side to Irish culture. Eddie showed us around the village and filled us in on life in rural Ireland. We fed the farm animals and enjoyed a wonderful traditional Irish music session at their heritage centre. I cannot recommend this place enough.

I took my family to stay here while we went on a 12 day trip to Ireland. This portion of our trip, by far and away, was our favorite experience and stay!!!! Eddie and Anne were the most gracious hosts and we felt so at home it was hard to leave! Eddie has done an impeccable job rebuilding the cottage in which they guests stay, it has all the history and charm of old, but comfort of a modern house. Every morning, my girls were greeted by their Border Collie Bonnie which is and will be one of their favorite memories. We loved the bog tour with Eddie, learning so much of Irish history, seeing the animals and wondering the fields where my kids’ imagination ran wild. Our last night will be one we won’t soon forget, we hired the musicians to come play by the fireside and Eddie and Anne brought tea and treats - for most of the night, it didn’t feel like were were visiting, we felt like family…:). Thank you to your beautiful family Eddie and Anne - we will be back. Kindly, Michelle McGinty White and family

What an amazing experience to stay at this farm! The cottage was lovely, the location is magical and sitting in front of the peat fire, listening to music and Eddie’s stories was a highlight of our Ireland tour! The tour to the bog and lesson (and practice on cutting turf) was an experience of a lifetime! I recommend this highly! I did not know what to expect and this stay exceeded my expectations greatly. We were 4 adults in the cottage and it was lovely!

Truly amazing experience!! We stayed in a lovely cottage, that was so welcoming with the heated floors and lovely aroma of the peat fireplace! Our hosts were so helpful and kind. It was such a wonderful experience to see a working farm and get an unforgettable glimpse into what it is like to live in this very beautiful part of Ireland! We will always treasure the time we spent here as the best experience we had in this amazing country, and cant wait to come back!

We absolutely loved staying here. The cottage is charming and comfortable. It was also well stocked with everything we needed, including food (snacks, wine, breakfast). The bog experience was educational and enjoyable. Be prepared to walk! They do provide footwear. The owners are lovely.

We have stayed at Ireland West Farm Stay two different times on our vacations to Ireland. We have loved each time. The cottage is beautiful and was comfortable to stay in. Having a kitchen and being able to eat meals in the cottage is a great change from always eating out while on vacation. You also have access to do laundry, which is a great feature. Eddie Joe and family are the perfect hosts and enjoyed being able to get to know them. Take advantage of the local activities and do a music session at the cottage, take a farm/bog tour with Eddie Joe, do a hands on blacksmith demonstration or visit some of the local sites. You will not regret staying here, we look forward to coming back again sometime!

Eddie was a fantastic host. The cottage was fully equipped, with every convenience possible, including an already-laid peat fire to light. Eddie was a font of information.
