The location is lovely and the collection of furniture gives a good understanding of the life there 100 or more year ago. Wish only there were writing in English to explain certain artifacts and photographs. Very friendly proprietor, great idea of organizing the museum and share some local history with tourists!

Came here as part of a day-long trip around northern Estonia, and it was our favorite stop. Picturesque, full of quaint items and is a family home. Grounds go right down to water's edge. Small cafe on site too.

Only worth a stop if you happen to be in the area and are a sea aficionado - a maritime museum, unannotated collection of local marine objects.

If you are in the area, then this museum is well worth it. Kasmu village is along the Baltic Sea north coast and is a small community of mostly Estonian family summer homes and some vacation rentals. The museum has excellent artifacts of the culture, boat and building construction, various mariner periods and regional war occupations. There is a couple that are stewards, tour guides, and they have living quarters in the museum. Donations accepted once you get past the curious irish setters.

Kasmu is about an hour east of Tallinn by car, and 70 km (50 miles). There is a bus from Tallinn into Kasmu.

Lunchtime stopover with cycling group so had set meal of smoked salmon potatoes tartar ish sauce and salad with coffee tea and cake. All cooked by the family who live there and it was simple but simply delicious. There are 2 dining rooms each for 16 or so and you then get a talk about the history of estonia through WW2 to today the martime tradition etc and then wander thru quite a few rooms with all sorts (65000) of interesting stuff from a loom to a russian soldier image used for shooting practice to seafaring stuff etc. A surprise and a great stopover definately recommended. I think you may have to book meal in advance (€15)

Interesting little museum. Good meal of smoked salmon provided on our tour. Beach outside was lovely although we were there at twilight on a cold December afternoon!

Located on the sea shore with a nice view of the Bay.
Apparently one man assembled the marine oriented artifacts shown in this very small museum.
It is full of charm

A nicely preserved house full of historical artefacts and probably the richest collection of true sea themed treasures. There was a Maritime school located in the same building in 1918-1931.
The owners are very friendly and there's a little cafe inside too.
While place and the area are beautiful and worth visiting.
Probably best if reached by car, but you can also get there by bus to Võsu and take it from there , it's only 6 kms away.

This a a great museum. There were a lot of interesting artifacts, some of which I had no idea what they were. We learned some interesting things about Estonian Maritime history. There is a metal tower 20 - 25 metres by the water's edge that on a clear day allows you a good veiw of give out over the Gulf of Finland. mIf vyou are in the area don't miss this one out

The owner has collected (hoarded) an extraordinary number of item associated with the maritime history of the area. Much of the collection would have been lost without his intervention - I was impressed by the largest accumulation of eel spears I have ever seen. To be honest I am not sure how to rate this attraction. If you like wacky things you will enjoy this and there's always the friendly Irish Setters to stroke! Look out also for the erratic boulders left by the last ice age which are everywhere in the local area.
