My 10 year old son recently attended a morning workshop for kids here at Skellig Pottery.
During the session he made two pieces of pottery and had a go on the pottery wheel. The pieces have been left for firing in the kiln and I have arranged for them to be posted onto our holiday home in Ireland as we are here for another week.
My son thoroughly enjoyed making and painting his pieces and is eagerly awaiting their arrival.

There were five other children present aged between 5 and 10 years.

Julia was lovely with the children and very attentive.

The workshop is in Julia's garden with not much room to park but most parents were happy to drop their kids and run for an hour or two to themselves whilst their kids enjoyed themselves.

There is also a small display of pottery handmade by Julia, the owner, on sale in her workshop which can be purchased.

I would highly recommend the children's sessions, it's very informal and all the kids had a great time, some had even been before.
The session was €15 which included everything. As we weren't able to collect the pottery we paid an additional €5 for it to be posted on to us. The session lasted about 90 minutes.

Well worth a visit even if you just wanted to purchase some Irish pottery hand made in Ireland.

Thanks so much for a lovely review, I'm delighted T enjoyed himself and his work is in the kiln and so will be out on Wednesday. I think you may be missing a jacket which can be put in the parcel too. Enjoy the rest of your holiday and safe trip home. Julia

Myself, hubby and our two kids aged 10 and 4 throughly enjoyed our time making pottery. We spent a few hours there and the kids had an absolute ball! We ended up buying quite a few beautiful pieces. The pottery is lovely and very special. We are all looking forward to another couple of trips there in August!

Stopped here during my tour of the Beara Peninsula. The pottery was beautiful and well done, with several nice pieces to choose from. I bought a few pieces as souvenirs for friends back in NH. It was one of the friendliest shops I visited during my trip to Ireland. Definitely a shop worth checking out!

Skellig Pottery is well hidden in the middle of nowhere, but so worthy to be found and explored. Julia makes lovely seaside inspired pottery items, which are a joy to look at! Her beautiful pieces of art are presented very nicely in and around her gallery, and if you're in the area, you should definitely call in and have a look around. It might be a good opportunity to stock up on Birthday or Christmas gifts!

The views were beautiful, the pottery was beautiful and we bought some pieces for our house and our garden to remind us all of a great afternoon. The kids were fascinated by the workshop. I highly recommend a visit.

Skellig Pottery may be off the beaten track but you won't regret making a detour to visit this delightful and authentic traditional gallery. We received a very warm welcome from Julia and she showed us her fabulous collection all hand made, fired in her own kiln in the workshop which is, in itself, a work of art! Such lovely traditional surroundings and we didn't want to leave! Thank you, hope to return soon!
