Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Remote location. Excellent racecourse with brilliant amenities. Good restaurant, and lots of tote facilities.

Was staying with friends in Westport and decided to take the scenic drive to the Ballinrobe races. Fortunately, it was a beautiful evening and despite being a little late found a free parking space in a field across the road. There is a reduced price for senior citizens and children under 14 are allowed in for free; in any case it was a bargain at only €15 euros per person. There is corporate hospitality deal for access to the Coronna restaurant for a charge of €60 per person which included a 4-course dinner, tote betting facilities, bar service, and private balcony viewing area. However, I just got in line with my fellow punters and enjoyed excellent bacon, cabbage and potatoes. Take-away food is available in addition to formal dining. Prices for food and drinks were reasonable. A resident band was playing, which I found too loud. Am not a horsey person but did enjoy the relaxed atmosphere mingling with the regulars and easy access to the parade ground. The entire scenic course is visible from the grandstand with a nice view of the Partry Mountains.

While it's not the Galway races the Ballinrobe races are still a great day at the races. Lots of fun and atmosphere.

It just so happened that the races were going on when we were in the area and it was ladies day. This was such a fun experience seeing the landscapes, the horses and all the ladies dressed for the event. We would definitely do it again!

This is a lovely racetrack - classic Irish track with undulating surface and the entire track visible form the grandstand. Full facilities - bar, restaurants, fast food are available and also a range of betting alternatives with bookies and the Tote.
However the real attraction of Ballinrobe is the close proximity to the horses, jockeys and the track.
Ballinrobe is under an hours drive from Galway with free parking and an entry fee of €15 - great value

Went to the races tonight in Ballinrobe.
A beautiful track in a beautiful setting.
Saw 7 races total for a entrance fee of 15 euro.
A good Guinness can be had here 😊
Being from the USA, it is nice to see horses run on grass.
They had plenty of amenities, place was well run.
Would love to return 🇮🇪

I brought a diverse group there that included South African, Austrian and Swiss. They all had a great afternoon and loved the atmosphere and getting so close to the paddock and racing. Worth a visit

We were staying in Westport and decided to go to the races in Ballinrobe. It's an easy drive and we were delighted with the facilities. It was a beautiful evening and watching the races with the mountains and meadows in the background was spectacular. In the States the longest race is 1 1/2 miles. At Ballinrobe the races are longer... some 3 miles! It's a popular event and I'm glad we got to experience it with the locals!

Hi Brendan,
I enjoyed reading your review and you obviously know what you are talking about. I enjoyed a point to point race in Kinsale a couple of years ago - it was very relaxed and informal. Do you know of any other great spots for point to point racing during the time of mid-July to mid-August this year? I would like to go again but I am finding it hard to find dates and venues.
Thank you so much!
Sheila

No point-2-races in Ballinrobe but the type of racing there is really worth it all. You can see the race from start to finish and it is great fun.

We will be in this area June 8 and 9. Do they have races daily? If yes, what time?
