Loved the hike from beginning to end. I had roped my 67 year old dad to come with me, after my partner couldn't get the time of work and although I was apprehensive about my dad being able to do it, he did and also loved it! Robin was an amazing guide, full of knowledge and passion and I can't recommend enough (including him putting up with my somewhat grumpy dad :D). We saw a bear, which was of course the highlight, but even if we didn't it's a beautiful place to be and exciting to see signs of bears such as scratchings. It's also great knowing that your hike is contributing to the conservation of bears in the high tatras.

Thank you Robin for the highlight of my year so far :)

We took a tour with Slovak Wildlife Society. We were met at the parking by our guide Peter and with him we embarked on a truly wonderful tour. The nature was stunning and Peter was capable, polite and knowing. Especially my son of 17 enjoyed spending time with Peter.
During the entire walk he did his best to spot bears and other animals through his binoculars. We almost gave up but in the end Peter succeeded with spotting a bear opposite the valley.
All together we had a wonderful experience.

Robin is a scientist passionated by his work and great animals. He knows very well their behaviour, prints and life habits. Spending an afternoon/early evening with him means a lot of pleasure, fun and knowledge about bears. The perfect final was seeing bears in their natural habitat during sunset.
Thank you again Robin for these wonderful memories.

We spent an afternoon with Robin in the High Tatras which was very informative and learnt a lot about the various wildlife in the region.
At the very end we even got to see brown bears in the far distance which was a bonus.

I highly recommend this toor.

In early June I was fortunate enough to go for a half-day bear-watching tour with Robin in the High Tatras on a valley close to Prybilina village. I knew I was in for a treat, having previous knowledge about the long-standing conservation work done by the Slovak Wildlife Society and Robin's in-depth knowledge and excellent guiding skills.
I had no real expectations that I would get to see any bears, but nevertheless, I started full of enthusiasm at the promise of observing wildlife tracks and getting to know more about the habitat. What followed exceeded by far all my expectations! We found countless bear scat- and mud- tracks, a few lynx, deer and boar footprints while walking along the freshly-rained foot and bike paths. The highlight of the tour was meeting a family of bears feeding on the grass (a mother and three (YES, you read correctly, 3!!) cubs, possibly 2 to 3 years old. We observed them for many minutes from a safe distance and moved further. By the end of the day we saw two more bears, a family of foxes, several roe deers, a couple does with newborn fawns, and many songbirds and birds of prey. What an unexpected experience!
Throughout the tour, Robin offered detailed information about bears' biology, habitat and threats to this species conservation, and brightly answered my infinite number of questions about human-bear conflicts and coexistence in Slovakia.

I recommend this tour to anyone interested in finding out more about the rich biodiversity of the Tatra Mts. You will definitely have a fantastic time!
I for one will surely try to go for another tour if I happen to return to the region!

We had a great two day trip with zoologist Robin Rigg of Slovak Wildlife Society through the Lower Tatra. The flora & fauna is so abundant in these mountains! We saw marmots, row dear, red deer, many chamois, golden eagles and several traces of wolves and bears while walking. The combination of walking with an overnight in chata M.R. Stevanika made it an unforgetable experience for us.
