If your a weaver, knitter, or other fibre nerd, it's worth the visit to see how the material gets treated before it gets shipped in bulk to be further processed elsewhere (Italy). The large machinery that is used is interesting, as our tour guide Gerard explained how it all worked. I had called in advance for the tour, and when... More

Mr Stevenson was an excellent tour guide giving an insight into the cotton growing and processing industry as well as a very interesting history of this ginnery. Quality of the cotton grown here is exceptional and used for haute couture. Best for those with an interest in textiles or fashion.

Definitely underwhelming, but interesting. I would suggest that the head guy keep some cotton on hand to actually show visitors the process, instead of just pointing to the machines in the nearly empty warehouse.

Difficult to understand the other reviews. Having visited Barbados several times and seen most of the sights, we made a trip here as something new. Fair enough, we missed the tour and that may be our loss, but on arriving mid afternoon everything looked locked up and almost derelict. We persevered and found what looked like an entrance door but... More

Unless the cotton gins are running (usually sometime in February for a few weeks) there is not much to see here. The introduction is a four minute advertisement..er..I mean film; that shows their cottons, made into shirts, skirts, etc,; being worn by models in what seemed like a runway show. The tour guide was a very nice man who explained... More

If you find yourself in the area, I would suggest a stop at Exclusive Cottons of the Caribbean to take in their short tour of their cotton gin and handling factory. It is very interesting and if you are lucky enough to be around after mid February you can watch them sort, clean and bale the cotton for export to... More

We wanted to visit this place as we knew nothing about cotton production and some ads we saw looked interesting. It is near Orchid World- and when you drive in just looks like a farming operation so we were not really sure where to go or if they did tours. Anyway, we just asked one of the staff, and the... This is an unusual attraction, right in the centre of the island (look for signs to Orchid World just round the corner. It is full of history and technical information. Do you actually know what a cotton gin is?? Or what happens to cotton once it is picked off a bush looking like cotton wool and turned into soft material... More

This is a fabulous and interesting place to visit. The West Indian Sea Island Cotton is available in many forms. Clothing, household linens, gifts and yard goods. There are also yarns in bleached white and natural for weaving, knitting and crochetting. The tour of the Ginnery showing the process from the arrival of the hand harvested Sea Island Cotton through... More
