Overview

ut-GoujonLocated in the Bordeaux region, a few kilometres from Libourne on the right bank of Bordeaux, Chateau Haut-Goujon’s 18 hectares of vines are spread over two appellations: Lalande de Pomerol and Montagne Saint Emilion. The soil is gravelly in Lalande de Pomerol and sandy-clayey in Montagne Saint-Emilion. These characteristics give Chateau Haut-Goujon’s wines particular elegance and finesse. A FAMILY STORY Chateau Haut-Goujon’s vineyard was created in the very early twentieth century, when Elie Garde planted his first six hectares of Merlot. Four generations, or a century and another dozen hectares of vines later, Corinne, Mickael and Vincent took over the reins of the family property fromtheir father Henri Garde, under the benevolent eye of their mother, Liliane, who ensures that the «Haut-Goujon style» is preserved. "Wine is not a passion, it is a part of us" The three brothers and sister are determined to bring new energy to the family business while a love for the terroir, respect for nature and rigorous standards of quality. ”We respect the land, and in return it gives us the best that it has to offer" AWARDS AND RECOGNITION Their efforts are regularly praised by panels of judges at French trade shows, and by French and international wine critics. Chateau Haut-Goujon’s wines are distributed and appreciated all over the world. 100% ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY In order to preserve the environment and respect the terroir, new growing techniques have been introduced at Chateau Haut-Goujon. Sowing of green fertilizers in the autumn, ploughing of the soil and no chemical weed control encourage microbial life in the soil and biodiversity; as does a limited use of phytosanitary products depending on the weather, with a preference for organic products whenever possible. Furthermore, Chateau Haut-Goujon participates in a collective environmental initiative aimed at continuous improvement of the vineyard and decreased consumption. It also promotes the sorting and recovery of waste, and the enhancement of safety and working conditions. These efforts are paying off : no pesticide residue has been detected in vintage 2012 of Haut-Goujon wines (analysis carried out in march 2016 by an independent certified laboratory). OUR WINES “Expressing the appellation’s different facets through delightful, surprising blends” Haut-Goujon’s wines are a reflection of the people who make them, and offer a generous expression of the terroir from which they are produced. Traditional, well-structured wines, with delicious variations within the appellation, they all bear the Garde signature. ” We would like to share our delight in tasting these authentic, distinguished, very elegant wines." MONTAGNE SAINT-EMILION THE FRUITY ELEGANCE OF MERLOT These wines have a wonderful freshness, with well-coated tannins and very refined, spicy notes, which allow the fruit to express itself, or accompany it with a hint of wood. LALANDE DE POMEROL THE FINESSE OF GREAT WINES A range of elegant wines that offer a superb representation of the appellation, combining good density with tremendous finesse, and demonstrating an excellent capacity to improve with age. LA COLLECTION CREATIVE A FRESH INTERPRETATION OF LALANDE POMEROL By changing the blends and type of vinification, Mickael Garde has created some Lalande-de-Pomerols in an exciting new style. These exclusive blends simply have to be tasted !
