About
Historically a thriving fishing community, Fisherman’s Village in Bophut is now a popular walking street, with rustic shophouses converted into eateries, shops, beach bars, and hotels. Restaurants here specialize in seafood, with both local and international offerings on the menu. Things kick up a notch during the weekly night market which features stalls serving cocktails, sweets, and street food from around the world. Get yourself a classic Thai stirfry and homemade coconut ice cream for dessert. Be sure to browse the handicrafts and trinkets—soft beach kaftans and bowls carved from coconuts make great souvenirs. – Tripadvisor

    Fisherman village review
Busy, beach market with various street stands where you can shop any present for friends at home. Prices are ok, bargaining is always like " how much would you give for this ? ". Double down the price, it could work easily. Restaurants next to the Bo Phut beach are affordable and they are giving you comfortable atnosphare to sea view.

    Charming Vibes and Seafood Galore
Just returned from a delightful evening at Fisherman's Village in Bophut. This place oozes charm with its mix of traditional Thai vibes and modern energy. The seafood along the beachfront is a culinary delight – fresh and delicious. The Friday Night Walking Street market is a vibrant spectacle, perfect for finding unique souvenirs. Take a leisurely stroll along the beach, enjoy the picturesque sunset, and you've got the perfect Koh Samui evening.

Fisherman’s village, a walk to see it all
Walking the streets of fisherman’s village provides an opportunity to eat well and shop. Food selection is wide and varied and comes with varied pricing as expected. From street stalls to higher end restaurants you have it all at your finger tips. For shopping it is all on display with the selection you would expect. Pricing at the markets was very reasonable and worth the walk. Overall it is a very comfortable area with great choice. Recommended.

    The night market is great!
We only visited for the night market (twice). We had a great time - usual array of souvenirs and ‘designer’ goods, where you can get a very decent price with a bit of haggling. The street food section is fantastic - not just a couple of chicken satay skewers here ….. a vast array of very well priced types of food from all over Thailand (and beyond - we did spot apple crumble and custard!). Can definitely recommend!!

    Worth to visit
Very beautiful place with nice European restaurants. Nice shopping as well. Not so crowded as Chaweng area. We met also local night market on Friday. Not sure if it is everyday thought!

    Fabulous Street food 😋
The fishermen's village Street market really comes to life at night!. So many stalls selling so many types of delicious freshly cooked food! . Area's to sit eat and drink. The atmosphere is amazing and so are the many stalls selling Food, clothing and souvenirs, so many stalls to choose from!. There are also many pubs to wander into , one being the Frog and Ghecko where you can get your drinks and sit at a table on the beach. My friends and I went to the Fishermen's village twice as it was so enjoyable!.

Lots of buz going on in this quaint village
It is a great place for nightlife. I met up with a friend there, and we found some really good restaurants. The night market was good. There are plenty of places to chill out in a relaxing bar or on the beach. There are a lot of hotels in the centre if you want to be in the middle of all the hustle and bustle, and the vibe is good. Fisherman's village is quaint and a bit different from other places in Koh Samui. Worth a visit or a good place to spend a few days to soak up the atmosphere we

Fantastic market and food stalls. The only problem is you are packed in Like sardines, extremely hard to look at produce and gifts . Don’t let this put you off as it’s a great experience and the food is wonderful. If you need to disappear from the crowds for a bit, there is a holiday inn hotel with an outdoor bar and it’s very quiet and welcoming. Overall it a great experience if you like skin to skin contact 🤣 but be prepared it can get manic on Friday night. Plenty to see and buy. 👍

    Not to be missed !!
It is the best place to spend time in the evening in Koh Samui without any doubt. It is 10 times better than Chaweng main street. It is one km long street which is a pedestrian zone. From whichever side you enter, you will find bars, restaurants, clothes and souvenir shops on both sides beside temporary stalls on the road selling cheap stuff. There are a lot of restaurants serving local and international cuisines. On weekends it's heavily crowded. It's full of life.

Great village. I didn’t see a single fisherman, they were all married. The market was selling things, most things I didn’t want, but the MRS wanted a dirty monkey, we had to go back and get another one, that was fun. Great place. Also sells tarantulas, can be cooked or kept as a pet.

This is our second time in Koh Samui, we enjoyed it so much the first time we just had to visit again. Fisherman's village Friday Market is great, it has lots eateries and stalls but it was not very busy which does make it easy walk around but no atmosphere. Our first visit 2 years ago it was very busy. We ate the street food and sat in one of the outside bars. What I find annoying is unles you want to eat in a resturant there is no where to sit and eat. The outside bar which is right down the end near the original fishermans village entrance had seats, you just had to buy a drink and you could sit there for ages. Which is what we did. The drinks are quite cheap and expected them to be weak, well they were very strong actually so sitting listening to the band, drinking, eating and people watching was great.

This was close to our hotel so we were looking forward to trying out lots of different restaurants.
One visit was enough. We found it to be too commercialised, the food offerings weren’t that authentic and the food was no cheaper than our hotel’s lovely beach restaurant. The street market was so much busier than others we had enjoyed in Thailand and didn’t bother going back.

I think some of the lower ratings of this area are by people who don't like to spend money and secondly expect everything to be perfect post-Covid! Fisherman's Village is clearly an area that will be very lively and prosperous once the regeneration has happened, but this will take time, and it was very encouraging to see so much building and renovation work going on during our time there...no doubt in less than a year there will be many more beautiful new bars, restaurants and shops to visit.
The beach itself is lovely sand, and very picturesque with stunning views to the islands to the north in the distance which are a short boat ride away. There are a good selection of hotels, restaurants and bars including an Irish pub of all things.
While prices may be higher than lesser known resorts, it is still very reasonable and inevitably establishments are desperate for your business right now.
We also found a great massage parlour here which was great value (it pays to search as some are very overpriced and would have cost us at least double).
Lots to do here, and will no doubt be thriving in the future once more tourists return.

This place isn't really a thing... It's not a fisherman's village in the sense of there being fishermen, markets, boats, seafood etc.

It's just a tourist trap of incredibly expensive bars and market-style stalls all selling the same tat but at different prices. We eventually found a fairly reasonable bar with average priced food and drinks with very friendly staff.

This night market is one not to miss if you are staying in Koh Samui. Loads of stalls selling a vast array of gifts, Also many food stalls selling street market food for you to try. Be sure to haggle with stall owners as they will often half their prices for a sale.

Prices are very inflated in the fisherman’s village. Cocktails at coco tams are very expensive, however you do get table service on the beach with entertainment. Fridays and Saturdays are more busy with the night market. I found this a great market for food, as long as you don’t mind standing or walking if you don’t find a seat you’ll save a fortune. Keep an eye on your bags and wallets because of pick pockets. The taxi drivers overcharge everyone, so either insist they use the metre or book through Grab (use a promo code, RIDE is valid until dec 2020 for 100bht off)

We went to the Fisherman's Village several times. Alway good place to eat and even better on Friday nights.
We ate at several places to eat. One is down a very narrow walkway to beach titled Fisherman & Restaurant, Thai Food. eat on the beach. Food and service excellent.
Cocktails on other side of road at Eden Bungalows. Spacious, good cheap cocktails and excellent service. Plenty of restaurants of all sorts but don't know why you would go to Thailand and have pasta, pizza or a steak. But tastes for everyone. On Friday night go further and deeper into side roads and you will find crocodile, locusts and spiders (cooked) for sale.
Friday night there is usually a Fire Show which is spectacular, particularly if you are sitting comfortably on a bean bag on the beach and it is going on a few feet from you.

I enjoyed this area very much as compared to other places in Samui. The place had a great vibe with excellent restaurants, right from high-end western to local food. Beach is clean with lot of beach facing eateries and bars. You can get a bean bag and just chill at night. Also the street had beach facing spas and massage places which was the ultimate experience to watch the blue sea while getting a massage in air conditioning at affordable prices.
Monday night they host a night market with lot of shopping and food. The prices are catering to tourists so don't forget to bargain.

Nice little touristy village. I recommend to come visit the Fisherman’s village on a Friday night so you can also enjoy the night market there (different prices than in Hua hin or Bangkok but definitely worth a visit!).

The village itself is packed with restaurants, bars and small shops so a great opportunity to spend some cash if you like.

We would also recommend to go a bit further out of the fisherman’s village to find some better priced restaurants but the village itself has some gems too!

For some reason the name fishermen’s village gave me the impression I would see somewhere similar to fishing villages in Cornwall but all I saw was somewhere similar to that of Khaosan Road next to the beach front. The redeeming factor here was that there were some amazing restaurants along this stretch however some would set you back about 1200 baht for two people. When some places in Thailand for the same quality of meal would only cost 300-400 baht. Location, location...
