Step back in time at the historic Lake Country Museum!Established in 1985, the Museum is located in the former Okanagan Centre School. Through its exhibits and archives, the Museum tells the story of the District of Lake Country and its four wards of Winfield, Oyama, Carr’s Landing, and Okanagan Centre. The Museum’s artifacts include the histories of the orchard, wine, and ranching industries, turn of the century living, and collections from the early Japanese community.

I was quite surprised at what an interesting and extensive collection is housed in this small and unassuming museum. As a new resident to the area I had been meaning to check out the museum but never expected it to be as good as it was!

Interesting small community museum providing flavor of the lake. Just driving down the long slope of hill is interesting, especially if tied in with lunch at the OK PATIO CAFE directly next door. Nice salads, sandwiches, icecream, etc. ONLY open seasonally; was closing Sept. 8th? when we were there September 3, 2015. Peaceful view.

This former school house, presently a local museum is located across Lake Okanagan in beautiful Okanagan Centre on the lake, featuring life in this pitoresque community from years gone by. Well worth visiting with a visit to the beach and marina after

Local museum with changing feature displays. Check for open hours during the fall/winter. Old historical schoolhouse converted to museum with excellent local content. A must-see stop during your winery tour!

Drop by this quaint little museum and get a feeling of what it was like decades ago in Lake Country. You could spend 20 minutes or two hours checking out all the interesting items. I have lived here for over 15 years and just visited it for the first time! Wish I had been before now - it's wonderful!

We fell upon this little gem whilst looking for somewhere to stop for a coffee – something in short supply in this area. What a lovely little museum with a nice young lad who was so welcoming and happy to give us as much information as we wanted. The exhibits were well laid out and presented as was the little... More

A terrific young, personable & knowledgable young man "Zach" gave us a wonderful journey through a small museum that shares a wealth of history in such a simplified interesting fashion. Well worth the stop & the informative tour by Zach. The ice cream next door will definitely make the stop worthwhile.

Lake Country Museum is not big but within the walls of the old schoolhouse the collection contains a wealth of local history. Not only in it's archives and exhibits which are all being documented and preserved in a digital collection too but also with it's knowledgeable staff many of who volunteer their time and skills to lovingly to distill and...
