James Dunsmuir's retirement estate, beautiful historic castle with 26 acre gardens. The Japanese garden was designed by the same designer who did the Japanese Garden in Butchart garden. It is a beautiful estate. About 9 miles from Victoria

This is now part of a college, and it's a huge estate to maintain. The building from the outside is stunning, and it is great fun to imagine over the years how many famous people have visited and/or been there to film movies. However, now...More

We just quickly stopped by. The price for a tour was fairly spendy, so we just walked around the outside. It looked cool, and probably would have been much more enjoyable if we had done the tour. That being said, we spent 10-15 minutes walking...More

This is a nice local castle which is part of Royal Roads University now. Good grounds with great sea views.

There are two attractions here: the gardens and the "castle." As others have noted, the castle can be close for a variety of reasons (weddings, classes, etc.), so if that is the reason for your visit, you should call first. Our interest was to see...More

Hello, Are there tours or a restaurant here? What is the cost and how do I get tickets? How do we get there by public transportation from the cruise port?

There is a ferry from port Angeles I believe and there may be something right from Seattle called the clipper. Or drive north to Canada and take the ferry from Tswassen
