This grand castle has the most beautiful, lush, curated Japanese gardens I've ever seen. Every angle renders a gasp. As if that weren't heaven on earth, the gardens continue to please with a world-class rose garden, perfectly manicured Italian garden, and mystical walk through the...More

This is a beautiful structure and has a nice garden with it. The day we visited it was raining and a film crew was there setting up to film a large production. As a result, the garden tour was wet and hurried, and only 3...More

This is one of those "must do" items when visiting Victoria. There is so much to see including a Japanese Garden, peacocks and a great view of the Olympic Mountains across the Juan de Fuca strait. The star attraction though is the castle which has...More

We came to see the castle and gardens but did not realize most of the castle is not open to the public. The only accessible part is the first floor via a one hour, paid tour and the gift shop in the basement (which has...More

Hatley Castle is gorgeous! It's nice to have such a beautiful piece of history in Victoria. Not only is the castle a beautiful site to see, bring your hiking shoes because a visit to the castle would be incomplete without a walk through the forest...More

Decided to come here for the Mother's Day event they were having. Although the castle itself was disappointing, the gardens were absolutely beautiful.

This is a nice place to visit and walk around. There were no tours when we went - class was in session - but you can enjoy the castle and gardens regardless. Keep an eye open for the peacocks. The museum is informative, but unimpressive.

A local told me to visit the gardens and it was a lovely place to walk and enjoy some spring weather. Had the castle tour that was informative and fun (X-Men filming location = new curtains!). The view to the Sound is lovely and I...More

They are separate. Seniors rate for (guided) castle tour is $16.00 and for (self-guided) garden tour it's $8.75.
