Quieter than many Algarvian beaches....which is just what I want. Lovely sandy beach with beds/parasols if required. Plenty of restaurants/cafes nearby where you can easily get a coffee from about 1 Euro. This beach is great for couples and families.

We went here because the wind was coming from the northwest. The beach is clean and shallow, so the kids could have a good time in the waterfront without us getting anxious. Did not seem to be a life guard on duty, but we might...More

Very beautiful and quiet beach. Small and simple. It's very nice to relax and swim in the cristal clear water and it's not (yet) overrun by the tourist crowds. One of my favourite beaches on the coast.

Typically Portuguese beach. Not overdeveloped, chilled vibe, very relaxed. Worth a day out, if staying elsewhere in the Western Algarve.

We visited in May with a toddler and found it to be a beautiful and calm location, the waves looked perfect for body boarding or surfing and the sand looked clean. The lifeguards where very helpful and friendly making us feel very relaxed and safe.

This beach is a short drive from Burgau where we stayed. It wasn't overcrowded and you can hire loungers with a cover very cheaply. It is a beautiful beach with golden sand. The sea was calm but be careful as the bottom drops quickly.

Salema was once a pretty little fishing village. Today has too many buildings and a enormous "Hotel", in front of the beach, does not contribute to any beauty to the town and the beach. But as Salema is mentioned in a travel guide much consulted...More

Roughly 30 miles I'd say but you can probably get a more accurate distance on google.
