glad i was wrong
Aug 2019
i was looking forward to a walk in the forest more than anything and i have to admit when i saw the first wooden carving which i thought was good but really didnt want to have an hour of looking at these. well how wrong was i ! you need a guide to appreciate all the folklore about each one. apart from the carvings been really good the tales on each one had me hooked and some were so funny. the path is very good and it all depends on your fitness level but you would have to be pretty unfit not to be able to do it. you arent going fast as there are lots of carvings to see and photos to take along the way. it is so quiet and peaceful and it was nice to be able to do this. take this all as great fun and you will enjoy this venture and all the tales that go with it.

Very Interesting and Peaceful

A nice hike through the forest. A lot of hills and paths. Beautiful wood sculptures carved along the way showing lore and history.

Parking: look for giant blue P signs to park, most are free. There’s a lot right across the street.

Great Experience
Aug 2019 • Couples
When a group of artists meet annually to carve wood sculptures and repair the older ones. When the theme of the sculptures is folklore stories. When now the Hill has 80+ amazing sculptures, it means that one will have loads of fun in this place!!! We LOVED IT!

LOVED it

I loved this hike through the woods! It combined two things I love about travelling - learning about another culture and nature. The forest is beautiful and the carvings are quirky and interesting - just like this wonderful country!

I use to come here as a child, now I was able to bring my two year old and husband from America. They both seemed to enjoy the sculptures and the scenic walk.

Unforgettable

I’ll always remember our visit to the witches hill. It’s a really quirky attraction, & our kids (aged three & six) loved it. It’s in a beautiful setting & there is a lot to see. The sculptures are varied & I’d say that the walk is about right for little legs. Don’t miss it!

Witches, Devils and Nature!
Apr 2019 • Couples
A great tour for nature and folklore lovers. Beautiful wooden carvings in a stunning setting in the forest. Would recommend doing this with a guide - the stories relating to each carving are fascinating, and I could almost feel the witches around me!

Fabulous Folklore
May 2019 • Couples
Really enjoyed witches hill and the amazing stories that come with each carving. You really need a guide to explain the folklore and we were lucky as our guide was a complete local. Make sure you have good walking shoes and a coat as it can get cold

Fairy Tales
Aug 2018
The hand carved figures throughout the walk were very interesting. Each figure had a tale attached to it. Many of the tales were similar to fairy tales we have heard before but just a twist to make them relevant to the local culture.

Interesting and eerie place

From Nisa where we took the next bus back towards Klaipeda, this time stopping half-way in the town of Joudkrante. Here was located the so-called Hill of Witches, a nice sculpture park immersed in the forest, featured wood-carved devils, witches, and other creatures.
