Magnificent photos on the website and postcards sold in the shop. Unfortunately, YOU DO NOT SEE ANYTHING AT ALL LIKE THIS ON THE TOUR. These amazing professional photos were taken with the aid of a great deal of illumination. On the tour, the cave is mostly dark and the guide uses a small burning stick to individually illuminate one small... More

Not too many places take my breath away, but the ice cave does exactly that! Be sure that you bring very good walking shoes, and are prepared for a long walk up hill (after the vertical tram ride). When inside the cave, you'll be provided an oil lamp for illumination. Be careful, you'll be walking on icy steps while inside... More

Yes it's a bit of a climb in some sections but its well worth it. We did a tour from Salzburg, bus ride great with beautiful scenery. Once you get to as far as the road will take you it's on foot on a good tared path until you reach the cable car Its a steep ride on the cable... More

The drive here from Salzburg was easy. There was plenty of parking when we arrived (we got here when they opened). It states that you cannot take your camera in the cave itself but I was not leaving mine in the car so we took it with us. Good thing because you have to walk from the location you buy... More

Eisriesenwelt was one of the most amazing places I visited so far! It has amazing ice sculptures, and the guides are also really good! The cave is huge (42km in total), but the part we visit is not thaat big, around 1 or 2km, because it is the part of the cave with ice. So do not expect to see... More

My group of five travelled from Salzburg to Werfen to visit the Eisriesenwelt Ice Cave ("EIC") as a day trip two days prior to the cave closing for the season till reopening on 1 May 2017. We purchased the Einfach-Raus-Ticket for a direct connection between Salzburg and Werfen. This cost saving ticket for a group of 2 to 5 persons... More

The Eisiesenwelt Ice Cave is within a short (50min) drive of Salzburg and worth a visit. The attraction itself is interesting, but the walk up to the cave and surrounding scenery is the real attraction. Be prepared for a vigorous walk up to the cave and once inside, a great many stairs. This would not be a good visit for... More

Set in a beautiful location in the mountains. You need to be fit to visit these ice caves as there is a 1km walk up a good track, with stunning views, to the mouth of the ice caves. Climb 1400 steps, 700 up and 700 down to see stunning ice formations. There's no electric lighting in the caves and you... More

This excursion is not for those afraid of heights or hikes. Even though you can drive a long way up the mountain, the 20 minute climb from the ticket office to the cable car is steep and unrelenting and likewise, the hike after the cable car is equally challenging. You need proper shoes, we saw some attempting to do the... More

Loved the entire journey to and fro the ice caves in Werfen. A lot to see and many different facets of traveling to enjoy. We took an early morning train from Salzburg Hauptbahnhof to Werfen, the journey is between 40-50mins depending on which train. A return ticket cost €17.40 per pax. From Werfen Bahnhof, there is a bus service that... More
