Stunningly beautiful Jain temple, on the way between Udaipur and Jodhpur. There is an excellent self guided audio tour which makes the temple and the Jain religion really come alive (I also loved the music that played on the tape).

One of the finest temples we've seen. They say you cannot count the pillars, certainly there are hundreds of them. Many are intricately carved. There are side temple to the various prophets and deities. We were told that this is the holy of holy for the Jain sect and it is a requirement for every Jain follower to visit this... More

It is one of the two most famous Jain temples in Rajasthan. The pillars inside the temple are beautifully carved. There is a saying that you cannot count the number of pillars inside the temple and I think its actually true because there are too many.

It is approximately 35 kms away from Club Mahindra Kumbhalgarh. On the the we passed Hanuman Mandir, the beauty being quite a gathering of black-faced monkeys that were sitting so systematically in front of it. Photos attached. Then we came to the Sun Temple which happens to be a bit before the famous Ranakpur Temple. The beauty of this temple,... More

This Jain temple was a great mixture of wonderful carved pillars. When not one was the same. It was great to see another side of another religion in this temple.

Talk about perfection, consider the greatest amount of patience needed to create such an unbelievable, enormous masterpiece......this is IT! This being what religion has the ability to conjure, then pray on!

We added this stop on our trip between Jodhpur and Udaipur. The temple is located in the Aravalli Hills, beautiful in their own right. The temple looks like something out of an Indiana Jones movie! And, I mean that in a positive way. If you are looking for monkeys, they are here! This was one of my favorite spots in... More

600 year old Jain temples, in the middle of nowhere. The location is still pristine and then there is King's Abode-perhaps the best resort in india in sub $100 category. Let's have the pictures do the talking.

Jain temple, Ranakpur is a marvel of carved white marble from 14 and 15th century. Over a thousand carved columns. Carved domes. 100 rupees for a camera. Plus entrance fee which includes audio guide. Not a busy temple. Have to Jane long pants below knee for males and not sleeveless for females as a working temple for Jain sect of... More
