I went there again in late Dec. 2017 on a tour. Initially I did not have any expectation as the golden rice fields would normally appear in late Sept./ early Oct. as reported previously. However the local government had worked with the local Zhuang tribe...More

My visit was in late June - a very rainy season which had a substantial negative impact on the enjoyment and level of participation available. The day of the visit, the weather was rainy. In fact, all four of my days in Guilin had rain...More

My husband and I visited in July (one of the hottest months) being young and adventurous, initially we were going to hike up and down, but after stepping out in the blazing heat, we opted to only hike down. I am glad for it! The...More

In 2017, the 2 weeks after Golden Week (~oct 8-22) were probably the best time to see the golden rows of rice terraces. It's not crowded, the weather is great, and the fields are at their peak golden color. We visited on the 10th and...More

Worth the day trip for a mornings walk. Suggest you pay extra for starting at the top and walking downhill. I have no idea of the cost to do this as it was taken care of by our guide but it allowed us to do...More

We came at the end of China's golden week hoping the crowds have left and the rows of golden yellow still there. We stayed overnight in Ping An Village so we had time to explore and take it in as compared to a day trip....More

The drive out to Longsheng is worth it by itself to see some countryside , rather than cityscapes. We opted for the 'short' version of the available walks, and were very glad of it afterwards - for us older folks, it was a bit strenuous....More

It was 2.5 hours drive from guilin. We took a day trip. It would be nice to stay a night there. The mountains were so amazingly beautiful. The villages are located by the rice terraces which took ages to develop. They plant their crop carefully....More

It was a long trip from Guilin to here (over two hours) but well worthwhile. We visited the Dazhai locations and took the option of a cable car ride up due to rain. The views from the cable car were very good though and helped...More
