Here is a well preserved (for China) village surrounding a network of canals and waterways with a wonderfully Chinese mixture of shops from fish pedicures to traditional Chinese clothes, to food (there are LOADS of restaurants, bars, snack places to eat and drink) to small hotels and lodges. It must be popular as on a mid week day with sight... More

This is a feedback I wrote to ChinaTravel based on the tour to Xitang that we had just engagedl on the 14th Oct 2016. The tour was a present for my 2 special visitors who came to pay me a surprise visit to Shanghai. Dear Sir, I am very dissatisfied and unhappy with the overall experience. I booked this tour... We've been there in may and it was disappointing.Pics look great but instead a water town we found a "water shop". Crowded, noisy, full of stores of chinese trinkets. We know it's not easy to find a quiet place in China, but it was extremely annoying. The experience would be lovely without all this things. Be aware and work your... More

Xitang Town, located in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, is a well-known cultural and historical ancient town at home and abroad, covers an area of 83 square kilometres. Most of the foreigners have been visited here and they will call this place "Venice of the East"

My partner and I have never visited somewhere so random in all of our lives! Culturally it is an amazing place rich in history! However by night it transforms into a crazy party place for middles aged Chinese! We were amazed by it! A true gem and well worth a visit!!!

Also: This is the place where Tom Cruise were in Mission Impossible 3. China's Venice with a lot of markets an coffee shops. You can buy food, have a beer or just take a photo next to the water. Some places can seem expensive compare to other parts of China (e.g. 50 RMB for a coffee). You will need to... More

Excellent Ancient Water Town I eve visited. Very pleasant to take a boat along the river with streets and ancient style buildings surrounded. There are lots of bridges. Tons of small business along the streets selling almost everything. On one of the streets there are bars with loud music all over the place (probably 50 bars) (only open at night).
