Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was a great happening to ride the horse on the Tullagh strand. I am not used to ride a horse. But the staff helped me in the best way. An extra ordenary event, just do it. You will like it.

The children thought this holiday couldn't get any better. We were based near Clonmany with three top class(and nearly deserted) beaches within 20/30 mins drive. Decided to give Tullagh Bay Equestrian Centre a try on last day.
Will have difficulty getting them to the beach in future....... without a horse 🤣🤣🤣🤣

What a lovely, friendly and welcoming horse riding school. I have 4 children, all of whom are complete novices and they said it was the highlight of their week holiday. Even the horses seemed to get in on the jokes 😊

We visited in July 2019 and did the pony trek on the beach. The kids (aged 6 and 7) both had a great time. The center is extremely well run and the animals are very well kept. Def recommend this.

My 7 year old daughter and I really enjoyed our trek. It was my daughter’s first time properly riding a horse and she really enjoyed it. The young girls on the lead ropes were really friendly and knowledgeable and took the time time to tell my daughter all about her horse Charlie and made it an excellent experience for her (they also put me at ease and settled my nerves, having not been horse riding since I was a teenager).
The scenic location and sunshine added to the experience and we will definitely be back.

2 of us arrived for some trekking, neither had been on a horse before. Staff were amazing, very relaxed and professional, put us both at ease straight away. We both had a guide who chatted to us through our walk & also made sure everything was ok at al times. We had a fabulous time & will def be back when we return to the area. Highly recommend this place.

Booked a ride for 4 adults . The ride was booked for 16:00 and told to arrive 15:45 . The ride didn’t start till 16:20 . We were then given horses . One of the horses was quite small for the rider . Those on lead ropes found the leaders to be very quiet and non chatty. The ride consisted of a very slow walk and a Very short trot. The tide was in , surely a ride shouldn’t be offered in these conditions . Overall the experience did not match the price and I have personally had a lot better riding experiences elsewhere , would not return .

Hi, Is it possible to get here via public transport? Thanks!

You can get to the village of Clonmany via public transport and then take a taxi ride the short distance to the centre. The taxi will cost you about €7 each way.
Dear Tullagh Bay,
I will be in Dongegal for 5 days June 19 - 24 and would like to ride while there. I have not ridden in the past year because of work and knee surgery -- but recovered from that will start riding again in July. Previously had been riding a rescued thorougbred -- walk, trot, canter -- working on getting her in the frame and rehabilitating her. She is a wonderful horse -- very talented, a rather spirited mare -- but very willing to work and listen. So I would call myself an an intermediate level rider. Rode a lot as a kid, then went back to it at a stable, taking lessons about 3 years ago. I am 53, in pretty good shape but would want to ride a safe, dependable horse.
Do you have options for someone like me to ride along the beach? Would I be able to do more than just walk? Could I have a lesson, then go out on a trail ride?
Thank you for answering this information. Also, could you tell me what you might be able to offer someone like myself and what the rates would be?
I am not sure that I can travel with my helmet and boots so would need to rent/borrow.
also -- my son of 18 who has not ridden but is very athletic, would like to try riding. Possible for him to get on a horse for a lesson, then go out for a walk along the beach, maybe a trot depending?
thank you for information,
best, Leila Philip

Hi Leila
thank you for your inquiry. We would love to be able to take you on a trek along the beach while you are here. We do have a number of horses that would suit your ability of riding. We are currently only taking treks out as groups book them. We would not be able to do this for just one person. If your son and yourself would like to ride together he would have a leader walking beside him and you would be able to ride on your own During this type of trek we do walk and trot. The cost is €30 each for one hour. There is no problem with hat and boots as we have them at the centre free of charge. Please let me know if you would like to book. We can take you on the 20th or the 22nd June if wither of these dates suit.
Regards
Catherine
