Sakya Monastery Kaza
Sep 2019
Sakya Monastery is a typical Tibetan monastery in Himachal Pradesh. Border states Himachal and Arunachal have population of Tibetan migrants and they have established several Monasteries as places of worship and imparting religious education to future Dharma Gurus or Lamas from childhood. A must visit when you are in Kaza.

Beautiful monastery in Kaza
Jun 2019
This is a fairly new monastery, but it is still very beautiful. You will be able to watch prayers at around 7:30 in the morning, and in the evening as well.

Beautiful Monastery in Kaza
Jun 2019 • Couples
The Sakya monastery is located as soon as you enter Kaza. It’s a big monastery with beautiful Tibetan art on the pillars . The lord Buddha in the monastery is blissful and calm . I personally loved the art on the door . The monastery is very peaceful and you can sit there for hours.

Monastery in the Kaza main area. Beautiful location with one Bajrang Bali mandir on the small hill behind the monastery with a small school in the way.

Monastery with a nice view.
Sep 2018
It's a new monastery build in about 2008-09. It has the calmness that you can associate with most of the Tibetan monasteries. Take a walk on the hill just behind the monastery and you will get a bird's eye view of the entire Kaza town.

A nice big beautiful monastery constructed 9yrs ago, prayers are performed early morning and in afternoon, so it closed when I visited at 5 pm, could see a bit of inside through the windows. Located near petrol pump, just 5-7 mins walks from the main market of Kaza.

This huge monastery is the first thing that strikes you as soon as you enter Kaza. Its huge and beautiful. We were staying pretty close to it, so walked there a few times during our trip. If you are able to, try and go there for the morning prayers. Its an amazing feeling to sit with the monks while they chant away. Then, the small monks also come in and serve you bread, tea and unsalted butter. The food was simple, yet extremely delicious. They also didn't object to us filming them and kindly obliged.
