2 museums - State museum and ASI museum worth spending time
Dec 2019
We went with kids, there are many historical artifacts in state and ASI museum. Thave a good collection of statues from early 8 centuries. For history lovers this is a must visit place.
Please note there are 2 museums inside the fort. One is maintained by state and the other one by ASI which is nearby.

Vellore Museum
Nov 2019
This museum is located within the Vellore fort premises and has nothing great to offer.
Some sculptures are strewn outside the museum and labelled. More care and research needs to be given to the artifacts. We saw a mobile museum van near the area, but
it looked like the vehicle was not taken out for a long time.

The museum is near the vellore fort and is at a walking distance from the main street.the museum is well maintained by the archaeological survey of India. it has an entrance fees, but the parking charges is so high ,which has to be taken care of by the government. the fort, fort temple and museums were near by the other and is a good picnic spot from chennai

Not much to find
Jun 2019 • Solo
A small museum.
I couldn’t find a lot of things here.
Just ordinary items to me.

Especially, not more than a few items about the Vellore fort.
A bit disappointing.

To have a glimpse of ancient South India....from 9th Century A.D to 20th Century A.D.....across various dynasties....a must visit place. This museum is located with Vellore Fort and easily accessible. There are many statues and artifacts in the outdoor museum. Visitors are recommended to pay a nominal fee to visit the indoor museum and enjoy it further. An amazing sign board describes the evolution of Tamil script over ages. A worthy visit.

Visit to Vellore Fort Musuem
Dec 2017 • Family
If you are interested in some history of Vellore, historical items are there in display here at this Vellore Fort Musuem. Do plan to spend sometime here to have a look at the historical facts. If you dont prefer to walk much, you can drive close to the musuem from the vellore fort entrance.

Good collection but neglected
Sep 2017 • Solo
The museum is split between two buildings on either side of the former parade ground. They have a good collection, especially of carvings and bronzes , but the place is old and is in long need a a major make over. The staff are very helpful and most kind. Entrance is only a modest 100 R for foreigners.
