Sayram lake is a beautiful place. Make sure to bring your passport as you may need it for security or checking into a place to stay. It's beautiful!

We went in beginning of July and stayed overnight with Kazakh Nomads in their authentic yurt after negotiating a price of 120rmb including a horse ride. The lake and grassland was beautiful but too bad it is next to the highway. (But this made it accessible to us). At night they ask if we would join for dinner with the... More

the color of the water on the huge lake is the reflection of the sky and snow. Sayram lake is one of the beautiful lake at Xinjiang. Kazakhstan residents discript the lake as the drop of tear from their god. you can enjoy riding horse together with kazakhstan residents with just 10 RMB per ride for 20 minutes. the entry... More

I have been to make mountainous lakes around the world, including some nameless but scenic lakes in Switzerland and Bolivia. However this one is absolutely the one with most beautiful views. I would like to camp for couple more days with my peers along the silent riverside. Actually sayram=Sailimu(pinyin), and the most suitable time for it is in May to... More

I have been to many lakes in this world including Hallstatt & Interlaken. Sayram lake is one of the most beautiful I have seen. Setting above 2,000m above sea levels, there is no entrance fee and you can walk in freely. The lake totally reflects the colour of the sky. We went in early July and the weather is 15-18... More

My girlfriend and I went there with our car/camper. The lake is very beautiful and very clean. The entrance ticket was 70rmb per person and no extra fee for the car. We were suprised to find not a single annoying souvenier shops, no walkways for tourists and such as we were used to from other tourist places. All there is,... More

We did a quick half day trip from Yining airport on G30 through the wild fruit valley (Guozi Gou) to the lake (Salimu, in pinyin). Super highway with some astounding bridgeworks which accounts for the loop you see on the map, but we saw very little of the wild fruit trees. The photos on the web are amazing, and put... More

I visited the lake on 22 May 2011 and the view was stunning just before the weather started to change and suddenly met with a heavy snow storm. Its always advisable to visit the lake in July and August as the weather is better and you can observe the blooming flowers surronding the lake.
