We went here for one day as we're staying in Taganga. We got a boat round for 7000 each which wasn't too bad. The only seats on the beach are deck chairs which were 6000 for the day but that still isn't bad. The beach was nice and clean and the water is nice and calm and pretty clear. Lots... More

Lovely beach, on Sunday afternoon it was mayhem. Lots of families and people doing watersports and jetskis. And very dirty with plastics (@municipality: place more carbage bins and educate kids how to keep your Beaches clean). Overall a nice local experience.

Playa grande is ok. It's a cool experience to take the boat ride to the beach. The food was expensive. You must rent chairs and people are trying to sell you something constantly. The view is nice and the water is pretty.

I loved Playa Grande.....you can access it by taking a local blue bus that you can access from almost anywhere along the main street for less than $US 75 cents to Taganga......and then hop on a boat for 6,000 Colombian Pesos for a 5 minute or less roundtrip ride to the beach passing schools of jumping fish. The water is... More

The beach is a bit crowded with lots of people trying to sell stuff to the gringos but in spite of this, I had a lovely relaxing day there. Having said that, if you are looking for an isolated paradise this is not your spot. It's reputation as a hippie Mecca is completely unwarranted. Lots of kids and families Beautiful,... More

Walked over and back. 10 mins from main area, found it no problem and safe during the day. Would not recommend walking if unstable on feet. Nicer beach and cleaner than taganga's as less boats

The water is very nice to swim in but the beach is very crowded and to be honest the main beach in Taganga is just as nice without spending the money to take a boat. We found that the people trying to sell us there boat services were too pushy and made the experience a bit stressful. The 5 minute... More

Do not go to Taganga or walk over the cliffs to the other little bays along this coastline. It could be very pretty but has been completely destroyed by litter and filth. Smells of urine - and no wonder as I saw men urinating on the beach - as you walk over the cliffs it is more like walking over... More

To be able to wisit playa Grande it is some travel by car from Santa Marta, then with a boat from Taganga to this wonderful beach. What makes it so special is how original is everything, the worst restaurants with the dirtyest toilets, horrible high price of the food, an hour waiting for two plates of fish , but still... More

Playa Grande is a nice beach. You can rent a chair in the shade for the day but it does get very busy. We walked there rather than take a boat from Taganga town. Spent a few hours and then decided to walk along the cliffs to other beaches and found them to be less crowded and more our style...relaxed!
