Historic spot which is also very scenic . ASI has done a good job of maintaining the place. The view of the caves and the lake in the evening is very beautiful .Lots of monkeys around so be careful about your belongings.

The cave temples of Badami are fabulous. I would rate them above Ajantha and Ellora. They are well preserved, are subject to less damage from mother nature and the view is fantastic. The intricate carvings are breathtaking. There is a lot of climbing, and some steep steps. Tippu Sultan of Mysore used the fort as a watch tower, but access... More

The four cave temples are a truly remarkable experience. Each one very different from the other. The carvings into the stone are just fantastic and a remarkable achievement in its time. Be very careful about the monkeys. We saw two bags snatched and taken to inaccessible high rocks. They also took a child's cap, and one jumped onto my wife's... More

These are beautiful rock cut temples or cave temples as they call it. Reminds you of the Ellora cave temples. Extraordinary sculptures. Well worth the trouble of the steep climb.watch out for the monkeys ! Senior citizens or people having problem with climbing steps need to take a call on climbing depending on their health condition.

The caves are very good and well worth a visit. Do read up on the caves before going as the guides are not very good.

We visited the town of Badami and the nearby villages of Aihole and Pattadakal. All these are located in central Karnataka. Badami was the capitlal of the Chalikya kingdom which flourished during 6th-8th centuries CE. The Chalukya king Pulakesan defeated Harsh Vardan, and there is an inscription about that feat in Badami. The temples are wonderful and the carvings are... More

The 4 caves in Badami are amazing. The caves are part of the red sandstone outcrop situated on the bank of Agastya lake. The carvings are dated to 6-8th century which was period of the Chalukyas. One cave is devoted to Shiva, 2 caves to Vishu and the last cave to Mahavira. In the Shiva cave there are large carvings... More

These cave temples are one of the early sculptures of 6th to 8th century. The themes here are Hindu Mythology, the Bhagvat puranas and the inspiration is also from the 10incarnations of Vishnu. Also shiva with his entire family is present. Hari-hara, both Vishnu and shiva in one figure is also displayed. It shows the spiritual maturity of the people in... More

This is a must visit spot. It is breathtaking to see how carvings were made inside a mountain . It is an easy climb because each cave has a resting point
