Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Liked the old masters and19th/20th century museums but was a bit disappointed by the Magritte section. Still, a fine place to spend the day.

super variety of mainly paintings, but also some furniture and sculpture, organised in a confusing manner, its not easy to tell where you are and what you have covered, you can see they know that as they have implemented colour coding to try and help.
classical to modern, with frequent special exhibitions, definitely worth a visit

Friendly staff. Interesting exhibits. Saw the Magritte section. I would go back to see the rest. Downtown and close to other attractions.

If you want to see a real fine history of belgian art after 1850 then you have to visit this museum: from frits vd berghe, to panamarenko, from gustave desmedt to van Rysselberhe, you will find works of these really fine paople there. As i'm writing is there is also a retrospective of gao yingjian, and this one is certainnly also worth seeing

The Musée d'Ixelles is not usually in the itinerary of the tourists, maybe due to its location, or to the focus in the Centre and Mont des Arts attractions. Should you linger a little longer in the city (which as someone in love with Brussels I recommend), take the bus or the tram to Place Fernand Cocq, and with a short walk you're likely to catch well curated contemporary art exhibitions. The gallery is not very big, so it won't eat out much of your time.

This was a good museum and art gallery but the charges related to which section you wanted to see before you had seen what was on offer. OK for a rainy day and some art (including very good Triptych exhibition)
