Well furnished and interesting rooms, with good audio voices in each room. The hunting museum is of great interest to those who like that sort of thing, but for others, the displays are a learning moment. I could only find one of the 'forest walks' and that was a bit limited. The Auberge nearby is closed Monday/Tuesday midi. Pity!!,

Spent a very pleasant few hours here while touring the Loire region. I am not a hunting fan, but there was a very interesting display on this activity. The very interesting chateau is still privately owned, but there is fairly good access to many of the rooms in the main house and the stables and outbuildings, and a lot of... More

This is a really delightful small chateau in a lovely setting with beautiful views. There is a very pleasant garden walk with information on the trees as you walk around. It does not have the huge crowds that some of the more famous chateaux have. There is a lovely small chapel, a museum of hunting and plenty to see in... More

This was one of the chateaus that I had had planned to visit before I even left the states. I absolutely loved it. We arrived close to opening time and wandered around inside and out for an hour or two. It is much smaller and has a more intimate feel than the other chateaus we visited making it easier to... If you're tired of the crowded big castles in the valley - try Montpoupon. This is a private estate with a good exhibition of a hunter's everyday life - you're free in walking around the castle and nearby buildings each of them containing different pieces of an exhibition. There were not so many visitors, so you feel almost alone to... More

Staying near Amboise we decided to visit Loches for the day.Beyond Montrichard on the D764 we passed a small chateau. We stopped at the top of the hill after the chateau where there is a shady picnic site. The view of the chateau from the site was so attractive that we decided to go and have a look.Chateau Montpoupon is... More

This chateau is beautifully set among rolling countryside. The parking is opposite and a little further up the hill, but is well signed. There is a tower just on the left after you have entered the property, that you can walk up and each floor shows a different setting. Music starts to play and the rooms light up and sometimes...
