The word awesome is totally overused these days. It needs to be reserved for places like this! Seeing the Yakusugi (a term reserved for trees greater than 1000 years old on Yakushima) in their habitat, along with all of the peaceful, exquisite forest, is quite...More

The first must walk trail in Yakushima!! The forest with different types of ferns has created a stunning view that you would never forget.

I didn't do the full long hike (wish I would have), but the shorter hike was still nice. I would definitely go to Yakusugi Land (150 minute) instead if I had to choose though.

One of the my favourite walks that I have ever done. We did it during winter and the combination of moss and snow was phenomenal.

We went on the Shiratani Unsuikyo track around mid November. It was very beautiful and at times breathtaking. We took the shorter course to Taikowa Rock as we were not that experienced at hiking. It was still gorgeous all the way, and the view from...More

I had great one day for trekking Shiratani Unsuikyo Valley. I fell in real real natural world. It is quite different other places in Japan. Don't miss Shiratani Unsuikyo Valley if you visit Yakushima. I would like recommend the tour of YNAC

Must-go but do take the longest trail for 5-6 hours. Bring good hiking shoes with good grip as the trail is fully covered with moss which can be very slippery sometimes.

The most time efficient hydrofoil is the one that leaves at 7:45, as Marloes mentioned. After a brief stop in Ibusuki, it arrives at Miyanoura at 9:45am. You must be at the ferry terminal 30 minutes before departure. You... More
