There are many interesting things to see in this area. These waterfalls figure in the top ones. It's worth a walk at the end of your trip to check them out as you walk down from the shrines.

From the 3-tiered pagoda, getting to the water fall was pretty dangerous for oldsters. The trail was old rocky stairs and it is easy to trip on and very steep in some places. Then when you get to the place to view it, you have...More

Very impressive to see Japan's tallest waterfalls, right along the 3rd Grand Shrine, Nachi Taisha. You can even walk down near the water to get a better feel and view.

Nachi Waterfall is a bit off the beaten track and not close to any shinkansen lines so it's a bit of a trip to get there from Osaka or Kyoto at 4.5 hours each way. The area is essentially the end of the Kumano Kodo...More

Even though it require 3 hours JR from Wakayama plus 20min bus to the Temple, but I still recommend you to getting off from the "大門坂Daimon-zaka" bus stop, because it could make you enjoy the full refreshing soul journey, go through the ancient mountain route,...More

It is more the serene setting, after trekking the Kumano Kodo, than the waterfall itself that I found attractive (seen one, seen them all). The path leading up to the site is nice, with mossy trees all around. You can pay extra to walk up...More

Amazing view of the waterfall. You can relax and enjoy the sound of it. There are some shops nearby and toilet is available. Bus-stop is nearby too if you are not hiking the trail.

133 meter height if you visit Wakayama why not here. Good to drive there than public transport (unless you have time). Many points to take good photos. Why not spend few donations for some good wishes.

It's a nice falls to visit. The water tastes refreshing. There is an entrance fee of 300 yen and you need to pay 100 yen for drinking through a ceramic bowl. Bringing your own bottle is also a good idea.
