Ride the rope car (cable car) to the observation section to view the surrounding of Tokyo Bay its a beautiful sight worth see and taking pictures of. Note: the are a lot of step to climb up and down to view 1,500 stone figures and Nihon Temple.

With only a few days' opportunity we headed off in spite of heavy mist and drizzle. No view for us but the mist lent a mystical air and the walk to the lookout was worth it.

We took the cable car up the mountain top and did not really expect to hike so far to see the Buddha. After about 20 mins hike to see the first statute and to the viewing point, we decided to take the hundreds steps to the Buddha. It was worth it although it was really hot.

It's one of the most popular mountains in Chiba prefecture. Especially, the cliff called "地獄覗き Zigoku Nozoki (Look over the hell)" is pretty famous among Japanese tourists. I visited here on weekday, but there was a long line to the cliff. You can find many types of Buddha statue. "磨崖仏 Magaibutsu (Big Buddha statue carved on a rock face)" is... More

It is a 2.5 hour trip from downtown Tokyo via Chiba Station. I'd recommend spending 4 hours at Nokogiri including a break for lunch - pack your own or pick one up at a convenience store on the way as there aren't any food places in the Mountain except at the Ropeway Station. Also, as you'd expect, vending machines charge... More
