We have enjoyed our 5 nights here so much that we plan to return in January, beautiful to wander around the onsen trying them out as well as lots of places to eat. Great for families and easy to get around.

A beautifully cosy village to wander through that offers fantastic restaurants at great value. Great accommodation for skiers with easy access to the snow. A few warm coffee shops with good coffee and food to sit in if you’re having a day off from skiing....More

Nozawa Onsen is a great place for hitting the snow if you want somewhere convenient, with decent snow, but not as busy as centres such as Hakuba. Lovely town, has slopes suitable for the beginner right through to the advanced skier. The Hikage area has...More

We loved our time in Nozawa. I think 5 days was enough. If you're not skiing there's not a lot else to do though. We didn't get great snow when we were there but still good compared to aussie ski fields.

A day trip is possible, however it depends on where you are coming in from. It's a 90 minute Shinkansen trip from Tokyo, and they aren't cheap if you don't have a Japan Rail pass. If time permits, stay overnight, as you will... More
