Ok, I am new to the onsen experience. My daughter (age 9) has become obsessed with it. This was our third venue. It was run in a very orderly way by a mature Japanese couple. There are two baths. Indoors is hotter than outdoors, but it was snowing at the time! You have to walk through the hot one (using... More

We were there on 5th December. It took about approximately 20 mins or 1km to walk there from Happo-one Bus Terminal. If you stand behind the onsen, you can see the beautiful snow-white alps at the background. It is the same background you will see when you enter the outdoor onsen. Upon entering the onsen, you will need to use... More

We were hesitant to try the onsen because we both have tattoos, and did not want to offend anyone - but one of the Japanese ladies using the onsen asked on our behalf and we were allowed to use the onsen. It was so good! It's very small so can get crowded but it's still good! They supply all you... More

If you want to have a local onsen experience in Hakuba with minimum tourists this is the place to go. Non-English speaking staff but it was not a problem as they made you feel very welcome. Separate male and female bathing areas. Loved this place as it was mostly visited by the Japanese locals. Taxi ride from Happo Village if... More

This is the best outdoor public bath in Hakuba for views that you can walk to from most areas. The water has no smell, but can leave your skin feeling a little dry.

This was a cosy onsen with lots of locals. Not a very big place so very cosy. It is clean and has a beautiful view to the mounts as you soak. You can rent towels (bath) and buy hand towels there if you do not bring your own. Was lovely place to relax after a day on the slopes.

Great view of the mountains and a nice old-style bath house. But I get the idea that they don't like foreigners much, they didn't seem so welcoming. Other tourists were pretty loud so don't go at peak hour, which is about 5pm-7pm. The Japanese tend to go late, around 9pm and it has much more atmoshpere then.
