This shrine was one of the nicest I seen on my touring around the area. It was very nice even though the weather was not the best. If you are in the area I would suggest visiting Yahiko Shrine.

The trip from the city of Niigata via train took about 90mins and was very scenic. Once you get off the train in the village of Yahiko you are immediately given the impression of a scene out of Studio Ghibli. Once you are at the gate of the shrine you take a beautiful forest path that leads you to the... More

It was 15 years to the day since my last visit. At this visit, I realised that our hometown has such great place. This shrine is located... More

I attended the fall festival and was completely blown away. The flowers in all their variety and colors were beautiful. The back drop of this incredible shrine was perfect. There was drumming, dancing and incredible food. The shrine has many walk ways and things to see. I highly recommend attending if possible.

Yahiko Shrine is no doubt one of the most beautiful places in the world, the little walk up to the shrine is just so peaceful... you are wrapped in nature, till you get to the top and face the Shrine..... it is absolutely mesmerising and breath taking, with the beautiful mountains that empower the image from behind...... I have been... More
