Unusual color

Worth stopping if you have a car, but the bus service is not convenient. The color was even apparent on a cloudy day, which surprised me. Lots of tour busses.

Blue Pond is on the way to Tokachidake Onsen. Easy to drive and there are signs to show the way. A beautiful and quiet place. The water of pond is really clear and blue. We even saw deers on our way to there. Really worth to travel.

The pond is really blue. We took a cool morning walk around. Get there early to avoid too many people. The place is quiet, tranquil and refreshing. Nature is the best playground and the blue pond at Biei is one of them. If you read japan-guide.com, it says "...the pond is part of an erosion control system that was built... More

about 6.00 am take a local bus from nearby biei station to blue pond entrace. Take a speed walk about 5-10 minutes to the deepest point inside. So sad that I'd only few minutes then must running to the same entrace way. For catching the same bus back to biei-eki mae. And have breakfast at the hotel.

We visited Biei in two days, both time taking the JR super kamui from Sapporo to Asahikawa where you take the JR Furano line to Biei, about a 2 hours journey (5500¥ one way if you don't have a rail pass). When you arrive in Biei go rent an electric bicycle ( 1 hour/600¥) in the shop across the station's... More

Getting to the Blue Pond was a little difficult as there were various addresses provided by websites online. However, once we arrived at the Blue Pond, we were overwhelmed by the beauty of this natural wonder. The natural color of the pond and its clarity makes it so beautiful. Walk in a little further and you will see a mini... More

Very beautiful pond and easy to get to by a car. Not far from the parking lot. Well maintained walking path. The pond looks more blue when the weather is better. Be sure to walk toward the end to see the blue river. No facilities on site.

Blue Pond is not easily accessible, so driving is a must. It took about 40min from my stay near Farm Tomita (which itself is a 15min drive from Furano city centre). The place is as beautiful as they said. The track beside the pond is narrow for the crowd; a good pair of sneakers is recommended for the uneven grounds.
